'Ferrari weer competitief en gevreesd door Mercedes'

Het team van Ferrari heeft zich opgeworpen als een te duchten opponent voor regerend kampioen Mercedes. Daar zag het vorig jaar niet naar uit; de Scuderia won in 2016 geen enkele Grand Prix en zakte weg naar de derde plaats. De Italiaanse renstal heeft deze winter wonderbaarlijk werk verricht.

Daardoor liggen ze bij Mercedes nu wakker van Ferrari. "We hebben significante progressie geboekt. Sommigen zouden ons herstel ten opzichte van afgelopen seizoen zelfs miraculeus durven noemen. Ferrari is weer competitief en gevreesd door onze concurrent uit Stuttgart", aldus Ferrari-voorzitter Sergio Marchionne in La Repubblica.

De goede prestaties van Ferrari komen voor oud-coureur Jacques Villeneuve als een verrassing. "Ik moet toegeven dat de Scuderia me verbaast", begint de Canadees tegenover Leo Turrini. "Red Bull Racing staat te ver weg. Zij kunnen misschien met geluk één of twee races winnen, maar zullen zich niet in de strijd om het kampioenschap mengen."

"Valtteri Bottas heeft me ook verbaasd met zijn zege in Rusland, al hou ik een slag om de arm. Sotsji is zijn favoriete circuit en hij zal niet elk weekend Lewis Hamilton de baas zijn. Ik weet ook niet of hij psychologisch klaar is om voor het kampioenschap te vechten. Mijn favoriet voor de titel is dan ook Sebastian Vettel. Ferrari doet het geweldig en Sebastian kan de druk aan."

Mijn favoriet voor de titel is nog steeds Lewis Hamilton. Mercedes gaat halverwege dit seizoen serieuze stappen maken en Ferrari zal vanaf Canada niet meer mee kunnen doen om de zeges, vrees ik.

  Gezien het recente verleden is het niet onlogisch te verwachten dat Ferrari weer wat zal wegzakken, maar aan de andere kant, wie zegt dat dingen niet kunnen veranderen.
  Vettel gaf eerder al aan dat er in 2016 belangrijke wijzigingen in het team zijn doorgevoerd. Denk niet dat hij dat alleen in de euforie van een overwinning heeft gezegd.
  
  Hoop dat Ferrari het hoge niveau nu als standaard gaat ervaren en het hele seizoen bovenaan mee zal blijven doen. Graag met Red Bull dat in het lopende seizoen nog zo snel mogelijk aanschuift.
  
  Voorts hoop ik dat alle beleidsbepalers in de F1 er echt werk van gaan maken om nog meer teams competitief te maken want anderss worden de verschillen tussen de top en de rest alleen maar groter.

  @Cicero, ik kan met mijn beste wil niet uit de titel halen dat MB, Ferrari geholpen heeft. En ik wil niet muggenziften, maar als je de redactie terechtwijst zorg dan wel dat je eigen bericht foutloos is ;) compatatief - competitief. ( mij stoort het verder overigens niet hoor ).
