McLaren en Honda schrijven seizoen 2017 nog niet af

McLaren en Honda hebben er een rotsvast vertrouwen in dat het dit jaar nog goed komt met de Brits-Japanse alliantie. Het seizoen 2017 is desastreus begonnen voor McLaren-Honda; de motor produceert te weinig vermogen en is tot overmaat van ramp ook nog eens onbetrouwbaar.

Maar hoop doet leven, ook in Woking. McLaren-directeur Eric Boullier weigert dit seizoen al af te schrijven. "We moeten zelf op ons best zijn voordat we naar het totaalplaatje kunnen kijken. Honda doet hetzelfde en alles staat in het teken om terrein goed te maken. Ik heb er veel vertrouwen in dat het dit jaar nog stukken beter zal gaan. Ik weet niet precies wanneer, maar ik krijg steeds meer het gevoel dat deze hoop werkelijkheid wordt."

Honda sluit zich daarbij aan. Yusuke Hasegawa beschouwt dit seizoen nog niet als verloren. "We draaien veel programma's simultaan zodat we zo snel mogelijk updates door kunnen voeren en we verwachten een inhaalslag te maken op gebied van performance. Daar doen we in ieder geval alles aan", vertelde de Japanner aan Sky Sports F1.

Geen McLaren-Mercedes

Er circuleerden de afgelopen maanden wat geruchten dat McLaren voor 2018 de handen ineen zou slaan met Mercedes, maar dat is volgens teamdirecteur Zak Brown totaal niet aan de orde. De Britse renstal blijft Honda gewoon trouw, ook nu de Japanse autofabrikant voor volgend jaar met Sauber een tweede team van motoren gaat voorzien.

  Eddie is zit bij Mercedes op zijn knieën te smeken of ze McLaren in 2018 please, please toch van supergoedkope motoren kunnen voorzien, omdat hij door zijn foute voorspelling anders afgaat voor het hele F1-wereldje.
  
  Schijnt dat Jordan de eerste acht motoren zelfs uit eigen zak wil betalen en persoonlijk wil komen ophalen bij Mercedes.

Ik weet het niet, woorden van McLaren zijn de laatste jaren niet veel waard gebleken. Eerst maar eens met beide auto's in de punten, dan kan je gaan nadenken over de volgende stap. en Force India lijkt wat dat betreft mijlenver voor.

Dat klopt want de geweldige groep mensen in Woking en in Japan begrijpen en snappen de problemen, halen het beste uit zichzelf en zien het grotere plaatje. Zij werken zo hard mogelijk om er weer bij te komen en ze hebben er vertrouwen in dat zij het dit jaar nog veel beter gaan doen.
Het team heeft een ongekend vertrouwen in Honda, de problemen tasten de motivatie niet aan, de leiding is transparant en eerlijk naar haar mensen en die zijn op de hoogte van de ontwikkelingen.

  @Flipje. Sterker nog het is een parodie van een bericht van gisteren met Boullier aan het woord, bedoeld als ‘aanklacht’ tegen de standaard blablapraatjes van (vaak) teambazen en hun adviseurs. ;)
