De dag van het eerste podium van Eddie Cheever

Het is vandaag precies 35 jaar geleden dat Eddie Cheever zijn eerste podiumplek in de Formule 1 behaalde. De Amerikaan finishte op 9 mei 1982, een dag na het fatale ongeluk van Gilles Villeneuve, achter John Watson en Keke Rosberg als derde in de Grand Prix van België op het circuit van Zolder. Cheever zou in het vervolg van zijn Formule 1-loopbaan nog acht keer op het podium eindigen. Hij reed in totaal 132 Formule 1-races.
