Liberty roept 'Fan Festivals' in het leven voor de F1

Formule 1-eigenaar Liberty Media had al nieuwe initiatieven aangekondigd voor de Spaanse Grand Prix om de fans meer bij de sport te betrekken en daar zijn nu de details van bekendgemaakt. De raceweekenden bevatten voortaan zogenaamde 'Fan Festivals'.

De Formule 1-fans krijgen de gelegenheid om in een simulator/playseat te kruipen, pitstops uit te voeren of te luisteren naar muziek van lokale dj's. De Grand Prix van Spanje in Barcelona markeert tevens het begin van een speciaal televisiekanaal voor de toeschouwers ter plekke.

Daarnaast start Liberty Media ook met competities waarbij mooie prijzen te winnen zijn, zoals toegang tot de exclusieve Paddock Club, de mogelijkheid om op de foto te gaan met de teams of een rit in een tweezitter. Voor gasten van de Paddock Club gelden nog meer privileges.

Zo kunnen zij voortaan meerijden met de coureurs op de vrachtwagen voor het paraderondje voor aanvang van de start. Ook krijgen Paddock Club-gasten toegang tot de pitboxen van de teams en krijgen ze een uniek inkijkje in hoe het er in de koningsklasse van de autosport aan toegaat.

Commercieel directeur Sean Bratches: "Vanaf onze intrede hebben we ons erop gericht om de actie dichter bij de fans te brengen en de aantrekkingskracht van de sport te vergroten. De lancering van de Fan Festivals vormt het begin van die reis en het windt ons op om de races dit seizoen op die manier tot leven te brengen."

  Ja, ook leuk om (potentiële) fans die nu nog twijfelen over de streep te trekken en het zit het echte racegebeuren op de baan niet in de weg.
  
  Als Frans Bauer ook optreedt wil ik zelfs wel naar Bakoe afreizen.

Leuk een aardig, maar je betaalt je denk ik scheel. Waar het natuurlijk primair om te doen is voor Liberty.

  Voor veel games betalen de echte fans ook ruim voor collector editions en dat versterkt alleen maar de band met de fans. Win win situatie dus.

  Je betaalt je nu ook al scheel om wat autootjes met 300+ km per uur te zien rijden....als je al het geluk hebt om op tijd bij jou plekje te komen. Het moet een totale beleving zijn....dus na afloop van de kwalificatie zijn er nog genoeg leuke dingen te doen.

Tuurlijk, maak er een grote braderie van.. Wedden dat er heel wat Nederlanders op afkomen,misschien braderie annex meubelboulevard. Reken maar dat autosport populair wordt in NL... o.Mol draait aan het rad van avontuur of doet de bingo.... gesponsord door rtl en sbs...

  Welke aanpassingen zou jij voorstellen dan? Feit is dat ze iets moeten doen om de bezoekersaantallen te vergroten. Je kunt de terugval wijten aan de prijs maar je kan ook initiatieven nemen om de weekenden voor een groter publiek aantrekkelijk te maken. En als Amerikaanse partij zijn ze erg gecharmeerd van grote, uitgebreide evenementen.
  
  Ik vind dat Liberty het goed doet. Er is tenminste beweging rondom formule 1. Dat starre van Ecclestore heeft de F1 naar deze situatie gebracht.

Liberty doet t prima wat mij betreft. Ecclestone was prima, maar het was tijd voor verandering. En tja, de toeschouwers/fans/belanghebbenden gaan toch elke beslissing uitpluizen of t ze bevalt of niet.
Tien miljoen mensen, tien miljoen meningen over de acties van Liberty. Ik hoop vooral dat de streams beschikbaar blijven. Niet iedereen kan sky betalen. (of ziggo for that matter..)

Ik ben benieuwd hoe de teams hierop gaan reageren... Toegang tot de pitboxen voor de Paddock Club gasten is wel even anders dan een paar jaar terug toen er zelfs schermen voor de pitboxen werden geplaatst om veilig en ongezien te kunnen sleutelen... Nu is ook meteen duidelijk waarom Ron Dennis weg moest.

  Teams moeten zich maar eens gaan realiseren dat deze sport draait om exposure voor jou merk en team....daar heb je supporters voor nodig en die willen gewoon meer dan alleen auto's rondjes zien rijden. Team moeten dit ook zien als marketing.
