Pirelli vliegt nieuwe banden in na beschadigingen

Bandenleverancier Pirelli heeft gisteravond en vanochtend nieuwe banden getransporteerd vanuit Italië naar Barcelona, waar dit weekend de Spaanse Grand Prix plaats vindt. De bandenfabrikant had bij inspectie van de banden beschadigingen ontdekt, meldt de internationale autosportbond FIA.

Pirelli heeft in totaal 67 banden moeten vervangen, van zowel de harde als de medium en de zachte compounds. De beschadigingen zijn ontstaan bij het transport van de oorspronkelijke banden richting Barcelona. Volgens de FIA treft Pirelli geen blaam. Omdat sprake is van overmacht kreeg de Italiaanse bandenfabrikant toestemming om nieuwe banden in te vliegen.
