Liberty Media breidt personeelsbestand F1 uit

Liberty Media is van plan om het personeelsbestand voor het hoofdkwartier van de Formule 1 in Londen te verdubbelen. Dat vernam Forbes-journalist Christian Sylt van Formule 1-baas Chase Carey. De Formule 1 verhuist naar een nieuw pand en daar moeten twee keer zoveel medewerkers dan voorheen zich gaan inspannen voor de optimalisatie van de koningsklasse van de autosport.

Carey: "Onze eerste prioriteit was om een directieteam samen te stellen om onze strategische visie vorm te geven. Ross Brawn en Sean Bratches zijn op de eerste dag ingehuurd om respectievelijk de sportieve en de commerciële kant van het verhaal voor hun rekening te nemen. De sleutelposities op hun afdelingen zouden voor eind juni begonnen zijn met hun werkzaamheden, terwijl voor het einde van het jaar meer ondersteunend personeel wordt aangetrokken."

"De organisatie was voorheen voornamelijk ingericht voor financiële en juridische zaken, en niks voor commerciële en sportieve zaken. Wij geloven dat de toevoeging van deze afdelingen een significante bijdrage zal leveren aan de verdere groei van de Formule 1. We verwachten het personeelsbestand voor onze basis in Londen te verdubbelen van 75 naar 150 medewerkers."

In het jaarverslag van 2015 staat dat Delta Topco dat jaar 357 personeelsleden in dienst had, exclusief directieleden. De totale loonlast bedroeg 48,6 miljoen dollar, wat neerkomt op een gemiddeld jaarsalaris van meer dan 136.000 dollar. Met die cijfers als houvast zou de verdubbeling van het personeelsbestand op het hoofdkantoor Liberty zo'n 10,2 miljoen dollar op jaarbasis gaan kosten.

Ik verwacht dat Liberty op den duur ook wel zo'n Pit Stop Challenge gaat invoeren op vrijdag of zaterdag.
