Mercedes stelt tegenstand van Ferrari op prijs

Bij Mercedes zijn ze er niet rouwig om dat Ferrari dit jaar een te duchten concurrent vormt. De Duitse autofabrikant deelde de afgelopen drie seizoenen de lakens uit, maar krijgt nu serieuze tegenstand van de Scuderia. Dat vinden ze bij Mercedes alleen maar mooi.

Competitie hoort bij de sport, stelt Dieter Zetsche van Mercedes-moederbedrijf Daimler in gesprek met Sky Sports F1. "Voor de Formule 1 in zijn algemeen en voor ons allemaal is een spannend gevecht zoals nu alleen maar goed."

"Die spanning is niet goed voor mijn zenuwen, maar wij zijn blij dat Ferrari deze winter flinke progressie heeft geboekt. Ik heb altijd aangegeven ik het liefst in de laatste race en met een marge van één punt het kampioenschap win."

Onzin. Deze strijd is heel belangrijk voor Mercedes om de devaluatie van de F-1 tegen te gaan.

      Als ze dit jaar het kampioenschap winnen, geeft het veel meer voldoening, dan wanneer je geen tegenstand hebt. Dus ik begrijp wel dat ze er blij mee zijn.
      Uiteraard willen ze winnen, maar dat is logisch.

      Aan de ene kant zullen ze er echt wel van balen dat ze de dominantie kwijt zijn. Al dan niet tijdelijk is de vraag.
      Aan de andere kant hebben ze groot gelijk, want de exposere die Mercedes nu krijgt is veel groter dan de afgelopen jaren.

      De vraag is ZIJN ze die wel kwijt? Ik vind het vuistje van Toto nog steeds erg verkrampt. Schijnbaar hebben Duitsers geen humor maar ook geen acteertalent. Ik geloof nog steeds niet dat MB die giga voorsprong in 1 seizoen is verloren. MB wordt gewoon weer WK, alleen op oog heel moeilijk, zodat ( zoals Benno329 al aangeeft ) de regels niet ten nadele van MB beoordeeld gaan worden.

      Een gedeelte van het bedrijf zal het niet leuk vinden, maar een ander gedeelte wel. Als je in een harde strijd kan winnen van een merk als Ferrari, zijn die prijzen veel meer waard. Niet alleen voor jezelf, maar ook voor de buitenwereld.

    In die zin is Zetsche altijd een CEO geweest waar maar weinigen van zijn, een petrol head in hart en nieren.
    Dit is ook goed voor hun eigen exposure en geeft veer meer waarde aan een titel, al hoop ik dat Vettel het WDC pakt dit jaar

      Toch logisch na de totale dominantie van de laatste jaren. Is geen arrogantie, gewoon een feit dat het eindelijk eens terug spannend en interessant is omdat Ferrari eindelijk terug presteert.

      Tja, Bottas was ivm Hamilton weer ongelofelijk sloom en de derde plek was toch binnen als ie zou gefinisht zijn, waarom zou je hem dan niet even laten helpen. Ze zouden wel dom zijn om het niet te doen.
