Pirelli schrapt de harde band voor Britse Grand Prix

Bandenleverancier Pirelli heeft de plannen om de harde compound mee te brengen naar de Grand Prix van Groot-Brittannië geannuleerd. Dit heeft de Italiaanse bandenfirma gedaan op aandringen van de coureurs. De rijders vinden de harde compound helemaal niks.

De hardste band uit het assortiment van Pirelli maakte afgelopen weekend in Spanje zijn debuut, maar werd nauwelijks gebruikt. Dat heeft de bandenleverancier doen besluiten om voor de Britse Grand Prix de medium, zachte en superzachte compounds te nomineren.

De coureurs moeten één setje van de superzachte band reserveren voor Q3 en één setje van beide hardere compounds overhouden voor de race, om er daar minstens één van te gebruiken. In de week na de Oostenrijkse Grand Prix brengt Pirelli de exacte bandenselectie per rijder naar buiten.

    Heel goed Pirelli! Dat is ook een goede afspiegeling van wat coureurs vinden van de harde band. Veeeel te hard dus.

      Nee ze moeten geen nieuwe banden introduceren. Ze moeten de bestaande compounds gewoon zachter maken.

      Is veel te veel werk @ScudVet#5, gewoon deze lijn banden behouden met een ander kleurtje erop.. Hoeft Pirelli maar een band aan te pakken, de ultra's zachter maken.

      En dan nog iets, ze moeten geen nieuwe banden introduceren maar wel alle banden zachter maken?? Dan krijg je alleen maar meer nieuwe banden lijkt mij.

      @maxiaans, ze passen de banden anders elk jaar wel aan en daardoor heb je elk jaar wel een verschil in de banden. Skibeest wil er een nieuwe compound bij, ik zeg dat ze dat niet moeten doen maar de bestaande compounds zachter moeten maken. Waarom zou je overigens de banden een andere kleur geven? Dat lost toch helemaal niks op? Ze moeten de banden overigens niet voor dit seizoen aanpassen maar voor volgend seizoen.

      Met andere kleur geven bedoel ik dat de kleur die nu bij bv de SS, paars geloof ik, rood zou kunnen worden, en de gele soft naar wit, dat scheelt alle banden opnieuw uitvinden. Dan is een nieuwe compound maken mi goedkoper. Dit zou voor dit seizoen een oplossing kunnen zijn.
      Voor de rest begrijp ik wel dat er ieder jaar wel iets aan de banden veranderd om mee te gaan met de evolutie van de auto's.

      Ah zo bedoel je. Dat is in feite niet anders dan ik bedoel als je naar het eindresultaat kijkt. Dus eigenlijk gewoon de harde compound weg en dan een zachtere ontwikkelen. Lijkt mij een prima idee ;)

      Heeft denk ik te maken met dat het totaal nieuwe banden zijn. Dan is het best normaal dat je conservatief een hardere band ontwikkeld omdat hij zeker niet te snel mag slijten. Met de feedback van de coureurs zullen er volgend jaar waarschijnlijk betere banden zijn en kan de harde ook gewoon gebruikt worden.

      De compounds zijn niet gebaseerd op vorig jaar. De ultrasoft van nu is de soft van vorig jaar (ongeveer). Moet je nagaan hoe kneiterhard die harde banden zijn.
      Dit alles omdat de extra downforce meer degradatie op de banden zouden geven.
      Nu blijken de S, SS en US meer dan capabel voor zowat elke race.
      Pirelli deed dit voornamelijk om in dit seizoen klapbanden te voorkomen en dat er eerst fouten vanuit de auto recht getrokken konden worden voordat de banden een issue werden. Volgend jaar gaat alles een tandje harder, dan zoekt Pirelli ook meer de limiet op die banden.

    Die band kunnen ze beter helemaal schrappen. Werd toch nauwelijks gebruikt. Alleen Japan en op Silverstone volgens mij.

      Maleisië ook, maar als dat daar nodig is vind ik niet dat je hem koet schrappen. Je moet gewoon de compounds zachter maken.

      Maar dan wordt de harde band een medium. Sowieso geen toegevoegde waarde dat een band driekwart van de race uit kan houden en veel langzamer is qua rondetijden.

    Nou dit toch over banden gaat...kan iemand me uitleggen waarom die banden eigenlijk niet gewoon in de fabriek getest worden in plaats van op diverse circuits met al die verschillende wagens, coureurs , afstellingen en andere variabele zaken zoals temperatuur ?
    Zo verkrijgt de bandenboer toch nooit enige zeker waarde over zijn product ?

      Misschien heeft dit met gemiddeld slijtage te maken. Berekening gebaseerd op variabelen.
      Daarop een 'gepaste' compound te maken.

      Worden ze ook wel, maar net als met updates voor de auto is het uiteindelijk het beste om te bekijken hoe ze op het circuit presteren.
