Ross Brawn omringt zich door oude bekenden

De Formule 1 heeft enkele nieuwe medewerkers aangesteld ter versterking van de afdeling sport, die onder leiding staat van Ross Brawn. Jason Somerville voegt zich als hoofd aerodynamica bij het team van Brawn. Hij werkte eerder voor onder meer Toyota, Lotus-Renault en Williams.

Brawn heeft ook een paar oude bekenden mogen verwelkomen. Met Craig Wilson en Nigel Kerr werkte hij immers al samen bij BAR, Honda en Brawn GP. Wilson gaat aan de slag als Head of Vehicle Performance, terwijl Kerr de verantwoordelijkheid voor de financiële strategie op zich neemt. Somerville en Wilson maken onderdeel uit van een klein groepje engineers dat onderzoek zal verrichten naar de implicatie van regelveranderingen.

Brawn: "Ik ben verguld om drie zeer ervaren krachten die zich door de jaren heen meermaals als experts hebben bewezen in de Formule 1 te mogen verwelkomen. We zijn bezig om een team te formeren om een hechtere band tussen het management van de sport en de overige stakeholders te smeden. Op deze manier willen we ervoor zorgen dat alle partijen betrokken zijn bij de implementatie van nieuwe reglementen."

    Had Bernie Ecclestone ook zoveel medewerkers met dergelijke taken? Lijkt er een beetje op dat het personeelsbestand enorm is toegenomen

      Was van de week volgens mij ook een bericht over, dat het personeelsbestand op het hoofdkwartier van de F1 in Londen door Liberty wordt verdubbeld van 75 naar 150

      @Kobus, daar schuilt inderdaad een gevaar in van tien handen op één buik, maar aan de andere kant zullen onervaren snotneuzen bij de teams bijvoorbeeld weinig overtuigend overkomen.
      En er zullen weinig neutrale klasbakken in de paddock rondlopen dus Brawn ontkomt er bijna niet aan om niet dergelijke ‘bobo’s’ aan te schaffen.

      Ben het wel met je eens dat je zult moeten kiezen voor mensen met ruime ervaring in verband met geloofwaardigheid. Aan de andere kant weet Brawn natuurlijk ook wel van wie hij volledige medewerking zal krijgen, het gevaar zit er dan altijd in dat je ja-knikkers gaat krijgen.

      Maar goed, ik ken natuurlijk de betreffende personen verder niet om een echt gefundeerde mening te geven.

      Dat is zo Kobus, alleen is Brawn zo'n man die liever heeft dat je tegen hem zegt dat je het totaal niet met hem eens bent en dat beargumenteert dan een ja-knikker die zijn eigen agenda heeft.

      Dat denk ik ook @Jim, hij komt bij mij ook altijd best wel integer over.
      Maar ik zit natuurlijk niet bij hem aan de keukentafel dus het blijft bij een vermoeden.

      Larry, je moet voor de aardigheid dat boek van Ross Brawn en Adam Parr eens lezen. Kost €16,- maar dan heb je ook een inkijkje in de gedachtengang van een zeer succesvolle techneut/teamleider. Je leest het niet in één adem uit maar toch van harte aanbevolen!
