'Formule 1 houdt zondag minuut stilte voor slachtoffers aanslag Manchester'

De Formule 1 gaat aanstaande zondag voor de race een minuut stilte houden voor de slachtoffers van de terroristische aanslag in Manchester. Een bron binnen het management van de Formule 1 zegt dat de teams, van wie er veel Britse roots hebben, ook de hashtag #Manchester op de auto's zullen dragen.

De aanslag maandagavond na het concert van Ariana Grande kostte aan 22 mensen, onder wie veel kinderen en tieners, het leven. Daarnaast zijn er tientallen gewonden van wie er nog een aantal in kritieke toestand in het ziekenhuis liggen. Gisteren werd in Monaco ook tijdens het Cannes Film Festival een minuut stilte gehouden. Lewis Hamilton zou zijn opwachting maken om 'Cars' te promoten, maar besloot dat te niet door te laten gaan uit respect voor de slachtoffers.
