Red Bull Racing gooit handdoek niet in de ring

Het team van Red Bull Racing is strijdbaar en vastberaden om het gat naar Mercedes en Ferrari te dichten. Dat liet hoofdengineer Paul Monaghan in Monaco weten. De Oostenrijkse renstal loopt al het hele seizoen achter de feiten aan, maar in Spanje is een stijgende lijn ingezet die het team dit weekend door hoopt te trekken. Red Bull Racing geeft nog zeker niet op.

Monaghan: "Het is mooi om te zien dat we nu wat dichter bij de top staan dan eerder dit seizoen. Het is echter lastig in te schatten hoe competitief we echt zijn. Ik ben er niet zeker van dat Mercedes alle kaarten op tafel heeft gegooid in de tweede vrije training. Daarom ga ik ervan uit dat het spannend wordt in de kwalificatie. Maar we rekenen ons absoluut nog niet rijk."

"Natuurlijk geloven we dat de kloof naar de top kunnen overbruggen en de wil om dat te doen is enorm. We gaan niet de handdoek in de ring gooien, anders was ons seizoen wel heel snel voorbij geweest. We willen dichter bij de topteams komen. Mercedes en Ferrari staan niet stil, dus we moeten ons beter ontwikkelen dan zij doen."

"Het is ook zo dat we in de eerste Grands Prix van dit jaar onze resultaten niet gemaximaliseerd hebben. Er zat meer in. In elke race vinden we meer performance. We zijn dus op de juiste weg om de leiders in te halen, we zullen zien of het lukt. We hebben niet de beste auto van het veld. Dat ligt niet aan één bepaalde oorzaak. We moeten nu uitvogelen waar we het meeste kunnen winnen."

Handdoek op het circuit gooien wordt het dan. Maar dan krijg je gele vlaggen en een berisping van de FIA. Beter dat Red Bull dat niet gaat doen.

  Spirit of niet, laar ze maar doen wat ze zich voornemen, dan wordt het voorin alleen maar leuker, beter in de stijd mengen dan op derde plaats achter de rest aan tuffen zoals in Barcelona

We hebben in de eerste races van dit jaar niet gemaximaliseerd. Tja moet je niet zo vaak uitvallen lijkt mij. Inderdaad onnodig punten weggegooid. Maar ja sommige coureurs worden liever derde met veel risico dan vijfde en een saaie race rijden....

  Dat uitvallen kon Red Bull niet veel zelf aan doen, het waren niet echt rijdersfouten waar ze van uitvielen en voor de rest omschrijf je in mijn ogen het duo bij Red Bull volledig ( al vind ik Ric niet echt saai ofzo, maar de risico's neemt ie minder dan zn maatje)

  Ricciardo niet saai? Die rijd als een oud wijf, zit helemaal niets in, in quali gaat het nog wel maar tijdens de race is het brandhout.
  Red Bull kon er juist wel wat aan doen, op Barcelona na dan, het waren de rijders die er niet veel aan konden doen.
  Ik zie hem liever wat risico nemen dan achteraan sluiten in de polonaise en dan een slaap verwekkende race te moeten kijken.

  Nouja...ik wil niet zeiken...maar het spreekwoord komt natuurlijk uit het boksen. Waarbij een coach letterlijk een handdoek in de ring gooit als hij besluit dat het beter is voor zijn pupil om op te geven

  In het Engels is het gewoon 'Throw the towel'... Als je ergens mee stopt of genoeg van hebt...
  
  Je hoeft dus niet de handdoek in de ring of op het circuit te gooien, voordeel dat die handdoek dan ook schoon blijft en niet in de was hoeft... ha ha ha

als ze de auto nou wat RedBull in de tank gieten krijgt hij vanzelf vleugels. hoe moeilijk is dat te begrijpen.

  Gezien het suikergehalte is de kans groot dat een auto gelijk totalloss verklaard wordt als je er RB in gooit.. :)
