Marchionne: "Sebastian Vettel beslist zelf of hij voor ons blijft rijden"

Volgens Ferrari-president Sergio Marchionne is het aan Sebastian Vettel zelf of hij ook volgend jaar voor Ferrari rijdt. De viervoudig wereldkampioen rijdt sinds 2015 voor het Italiaanse team en liet eerder weten nog niet zeker te weten of hij na dit jaar doorgaat bij Ferrari.

Hoewel Vettel dit jaar mee kan doen voor het kampioenschap heeft de viervoudig wereldkampioen zich nog niet gecommitteerd aan Ferrari voor volgend jaar. Volgens Marchionne hangt veel af van hoe de rest van het seizoen verloopt.

"Het is belangrijk dat Sebastian Vettel zich gelukkig voelt in de auto en bij het team. Vorig jaar moesten we echt ons best doen om hem te overtuigen dat we hem dit jaar een winnende auto konden bieden. Voor volgend jaar willen we hem nog een betere auto bieden, zodat hij ook volgend jaar de eer van Ferrari verdedigt", aldus Marchionne in gesprek met de Italiaanse media.

Ik zie hem dit jaar geen kampioen worden alhoewel Ferrari wel een heel stuk beter is dan vorig jaar. Ik gok dat Hamilton kampioen wordt en Vettel 2e. De 3e plek vind ik moeilijker te voorspellen.
