Norris test deze week met oude McLaren in Portugal

Lando Norris test vandaag en morgen met een oude McLaren op het circuit van Portimao. Dat bericht brengt Autosport. Norris sleepte eind vorig jaar de McLaren Autosport BRDC Award in de wacht en een Formule 1-test voor het team van McLaren behoorde tot het prijzenpakket.

Normaal gesproken kiest het team dan voor een ééndaagse test op Silverstone, maar voor Norris maakt de Britse renstal graag een uitzondering. Het Britse talent test twee dagen in Portugal. De 17-jarige coureur bestuurt een McLaren MP4-26 uit 2011.

Norris is begin dit jaar ook door McLaren opgenomen in het opleidingsprogramma. De jonge Brit racet daarnaast in het Europees kampioenschap Formule 3. Daarin deelt hij de leiding na negen races met Joel Eriksson. Maximilian Günther volgt op slechts twee punten.

Een F1 auto uit 2011??? Beetje belachelijk natuurlijk maarja tegenwoordig mag er nog maar zeer beperkt getest worden met 2017 auto's. Als Lewis straks stopt dan is alle hoop in the UK gericht op Lando.

    Een F1 auto uit 2011??? Beetje belachelijk natuurlijk maarja tegenwoordig mag er nog maar zeer beperkt getest worden met 2017 auto's. Als Lewis straks stopt dan is alle hoop in the UK gericht op Lando.

      Dat ze hem niet in een 2017 auto laten testen snap ik nog. Maar een 2011 is wel erg lang geleden neem dan een auto uit 2015 ofzo.

      Dit is gewoon een kennismaking en stelt verder helemaal niks voor. De winnaar vroeger van de World Series by Renault mocht ook altijd een dag testen voor Renault. vd Garde heeft dat ook gekregen in 2009 toen hij in 2008 daar de titel won. vd Garde kreeg nooit nieuwe banden en zat constant 1 a 2 seconden boven de tijden van de toen GP coureurs. Zelfde ook toen Simona de Silvestro mocht testen in een oude Sauber, ging ook nergens over (en was voor Sauber gewoon geld verdienen).

      Als ze hem laten testen met een 2015 auto, dan word het een vermakelijk dagje in de pitbox.
