Geen letsel voor Pascal Wehrlein na crash in Monaco

Sauber-coureur Pascal Wehrlein mankeert niets na zijn merkwaardige schuiver in de Grand Prix van Monaco. De Duitser kwam na een tik van McLaren-collega Jenson Button op zijn zij terecht en schoof zo tegen de omheining aan. Het duurde even voordat hij uit zijn auto kon klimmen.

Na afloop liet Wehrlein weten dat hij nog wat scans zal ondergaan om te kijken of hij niets overgehouden heeft aan de crash. De Duitser heeft een blessureverleden; eerder dit seizoen miste hij de Grands Prix van Australië en China omdat hij met gebroken ruggenwervels rondliep.

Wehrlein had die blessure opgelopen bij een koprol tijdens de Race of Champions in Miami in januari. Omdat hij in Monaco met zijn hoofd de stootkussens raakte, bestond de vrees voor een nieuwe rugblessure. Onderzoek heeft uitgewezen dat de Duitser geen letsel overgehouden heeft aan het ongeluk in Monaco. Hij kan volgende week dus gewoon racen in Canada.
