Wolff: "Ferrari favoriet voor het kampioenschap"

Het team van Mercedes manoeuvreert zich steeds meer in de underdogpositie. De Duitse renstal heeft de helft van de zes verreden Grands Prix dit jaar gewonnen, maar volgens motorsportbaas Toto Wolff is concurrent Ferrari toch de grootste kanshebber op de titels voor 2017. "Het is pijnlijk, maar wij zijn niet de favoriet voor het kampioenschap. Op dit moment is Ferrari dat."

Hij vervolgt: "Ferrari heeft een erg sterk pakket en wij moeten boven onszelf uitstijgen om andermaal te bewijzen dat wij het te kloppen team zijn. Er zijn nog veertien races te gaan en alles ligt compleet open. We kijken uit naar de Canadese Grand Prix in Montreal en de kans om terug te slaan met een sterk resultaat. Hopelijk vinden we onderweg nog antwoorden op enkele lastige vragen."

"Resultaten uit het verleden bieden geen garanties voor de toekomst, zo blijkt dit seizoen maar weer. Elk seizoen begint iedereen weer op nul, met nieuwe reglementen zoals dit jaar. We zijn dit seizoen begonnen met een sterke auto die ons in staat gesteld heeft dat we drie van de zes races gewonnen hebben. Maar ook een wagen die ons meer complicaties oplevert dan voorgaande seizoenen."

"Ik had op zondagmiddag in Monaco een ontmoeting met iemand die ik zeer respecteer en hij vroeg me hoe ik voelde na de nederlaag. Ik zei dat het pijn deed, waarna hij antwoordde dat dit bij autosport hoort. Dat is de realiteit van dit moment. We moeten voor elke zege, elke pole en elk punt tot het uiterste gaan. Het is niet meer automatisch zo dat twee Mercedessen bovenaan de tijdenlijst eindigen in een sessie."

Net zo vaak dat de Honda motor niet goed is, Renault zijn update uitstelt, RBR stopt met de F1, Het Chasis van RBR ''niet goed is'', Wolf en Laude de competitie leuk vinden en niet te vergeten Stroll zijn zelfvertrouwen is niet weg.

Mercedes heeft het geluk dat er nu geracet wordt op circuits met lange stukken rechtdoor. Canada en Azerbeidzjan zal niet al te moeilijk zijn voor Mercedes om te winnen. In Oostenrijk zijn de kansen voor Ferrari. Topfavoriet blijft natuurlijk Mercedes. Ferrari zal vanaf Oostenrijk weer kunnen winnen. Maar ik hoop dat Ferrari in Monza weereens de winst pakt.

  Of heeft Ferrari de pech dat er nu geracet gaat worden op circuits met lange rechte stukken.
  Tis maar net hoe je het bekijken wilt....maar denk dat Ferrari overall sterker is.

Die zeer gerespecteerde persoon moet wel een doorgewinterde F1-coureur of kenner zijn geweest.
