Mercedes verwijst geruchten naar rijk der fabelen

Mercedes is niet van plan om na 2018 de stekker uit het eigen fabrieksteam te trekken. Dat is de reactie van motorsportbaas Toto Wolff op uitlatingen van Eddie Jordan. De Ier voorspelde dat Mercedes na volgend seizoen enkel als motorleverancier door zou gaan in de Formule 1. Niets van waar, aldus de Duitse autofabrikant.

Wolff: "Monaco is dé plek voor feestjes en nachten doorhalen en het ziet ernaar uit dat iemand daar iets te diep in het glaasje gekeken heeft en nu onzinverhalen fabriceert. Deze geruchten zijn compleet ongefundeerd en zijn niets meer dan het kwaadaardige gespeculeer van een individu."

"Mercedes heeft waterdichte contract over deelname aan de Formule 1 tot en met 2020 en bovendien zijn we momenteel in gesprek met Liberty Media, de nieuwe eigenaren van de sport, over de volgende competitieve cyclus."

      Gewoon Mercedes niet verlengen ... 2020 is het opsodemieteren en klaar, ga maar een andere raceklasse vervelen. Zijn we daar ook weer vanaf.

      Zo'n beetje de grootste bomenlegger geweest onder de huidige F1 (beleid)regels ... laat e lekker opsodemieteren, daardoor zitten wij iedere 2 weken naar een F-ing Foek boring kansloze wedstrijd te kijken. Aan Ferrari ...valt ook wat van te zeggen, maar lag het niet, die wilde die V8 wel houden. nog liever de V10 of V12.

      Ze lopen hier altijd ziggo af te kraken, maar wat dacht je van een clown als Eddie Jordan, daar komt de laatste tijd echt niks zinnigs meer uit. Hij begint een beetje de Jan Derks van Engeland te worden.

    Als ze niet in 2018 gaan dan wel in 2020. Dan ligt er geen motor meer op de plank waarmee ze zeker zijn van succes.
    Vraag me niet waarom ik dat denk, niets meer dan een gut-feeling :)

    Jordans verhaal zou natuurlijk een beetje kunnen kloppen, doe daar een paar jaar bij en het is 2020.
    uiteraard zal Wolf dit altijd ontkennen tot het bittere einde.
    Ik geloof ook niet dat Mercedes zoals Ferrari dat wel zal doen tot in de eeuwigheid in de F1 zal blijven acteren.
    Maar het blijft een prognose hoor, of een voorspelling!

    Het leuke is dat als het goed leest geen van beide leugens uitkraamt. Na 2020 kan het best zijn dat Mercedes weggaat of een andere koers gaat varen en Eddie zegt niet dat Mercedes 1 januari 2019 uit de F1 stapt of alleen leverancier wordt.

    En als Eddie het wel bij het rechte einde heeft gaat Toto dit echt niet toegeven. Of denkt Dieter Zetsche nu wel: "Potverdikkie, die Eddie heeft eigenlijk best wel een goed idee!" Tsja en dat hoort Toto echt pas later, zo hoog in de Daimler boom zit Totootje nu ook weer niet dat hij over alles als eerste ingelicht wordt.
