Monger went in simulator aan handbediening

Billy Monger is amper twee maanden na zijn huiveringwekkende crash tijdens een Formule 4-race op Donington Park alweer volop in de simulator te vinden. De jonge Brit raakte beide onderbenen kwijt bij het akelige ongeluk, maar hij is vastberaden om terug te keren in de racerij. In de simulator van Carlin maakt hij zich alvast eigen hoe hij een racewagen met de hand kan bedienen.

    Ik ken de de beste jongen voor zijn ongeluk absoluut niet en heb ook geen idee of hij talent is, maar ben erg benieuwd hoever hij het gaat schoppen in de autosport.

    Samen met o.a. Zanardi is het dan een enorm uithangbord voor de sport op allerlei manieren en ik denk dat dat goed is.

      Ik had voor zn crash ook nog nooit van m gehoord. Maar wat een doorzetter is dat zeg. Erg indrukwekkend. Zo snel alweer ervoor gaan. Dit soort van mensen zijn inspirerend en maakt tegenslagen relatief. Net zoals Zanardi inderdaad. Uithangbord voor de mensheid zelfs.

    Iemand enig idee hoe hij het gas, remmen en schakelen bedient op het stuur met alleen zijn handen? Gaat het dan zoals bij bv. een PS4 controller?

      Denk dat hij een soort gelijk systeem gebruikt hoe Zanardi die ook gebruikt. Er staan wel video's op Youtube hoe hij rijdt.

    Misschien hard maar vermoedelijk horen we over een jaar nooit meer wat van deze jongen. Het beste gegund aan hem maar niet meer in de racerij op hoog niveau.

      Was ook mijn gedachte, klinkt hard maar zo gaat het wel. Zanardi was natuurlijk anders omdat hij al een relatief grote naam was. Hoop dat deze jongen op een andere manier een waardevolle invulling aan zijn leven kan geven, maar dat moet gezien zijn vechtlust zeker lukken.

    Van deze jongen gaan wij nog veel horen. Er zijn een aantal "gentleman" drivers die GT3 en andere endurance willen rijden maar geen snelle teamgenoot kunnen vinden die met handbediening kan rijden. Als Billy dit goed onder de knie krijgt zal hij zijn brood kunnen verdienen met racen.
