De dag dat McLaren de eerste overwinning boekte

Het is vandaag precies 49 jaar geleden dat het team van McLaren zijn eerste overwinning in de Formule 1 behaalde. Niemand minder dan oprichter en naamgever Bruce McLaren kwam op 9 juni 1968 als eerste over de streep in de Grand Prix van België op Spa-Francorchamps. De Nieuw-Zeelander had zelf in eerste instantie niet in de gaten dat hij gewonnen had. Leider Jackie Stewart was in de laatste ronde zonder brandstof komen te staan, maar McLaren had dat niet gezien.
