McLaren pakt zege in vlottenrace

Op het circuit wil het dit seizoen nog niet vlotten, maar op het water heeft het team van McLaren laten zien het winnen nog niet verleerd te zijn. Na een aantal jaren niet te zijn gehouden, keerde de traditionele vlottenrace terug in het water naast het Circuit Gilles Villeneueve.

De teams kregen eerst de opdracht een vlot te bouwen. Naast alle tien Formule 1 teams was er ook een vlot met een delegatie van de FIA en een vlot met enkele fans. De start verliep niet geheel vlekkeloos en moest opnieuw omdat een team te vroeg weg was gevaren.

Bij het startschot, gegeven door Charlie Whiting, waren de mannen van McLaren als snelste weg. Toro Rosso en Sauber volgden als tweede en derde. Niet veel later zag het publiek hoe het vlot met fans kort na de start niet sterk genoeg bleek en zonk.

McLaren deerde het allemaal niet: het Britse team pakte de zege. Toro Rosso werd tweede, gevolgd door het team van Sauber. In onderstaande video zie je de hoogtepunten van het leuke evenement.
