Coureurs willen plek aan onderhandelingstafel voor nieuwe regels

De Formule 1-coureurs verenigd in vakbond GPDA verlangen er naar om een woordje mee te spreken in de discussies over toekomstige reglementen. Dat meldt Autosport. De rijders vinden het raar dat ze nooit gehoord worden als het gaat om de toekomst van de sport en willen de dialoog aan gaan met de internationale autosportbond FIA.

GPDA-voorzitter Rubens Barrichello besprak dat idee in Zuid-Korea met FIA-president Jean Todt. We willen gewoon op een interactieve manier met de FIA in gesprek raken. De coureurs zouden op zoveel aspecten betrokken moeten worden, zoals de ontwikkeling van de auto's of regelwijzigingen. De rijders moeten hun woordje kunnen doen en gehoord worden. We hoeven geen zeggenschap, maar soms is het voor alle 24 coureurs zo duidelijk dat iets niet gaat werken en we vinden het vreemd dat ze ons nooit om advies vragen. We zijn niet uit op ruzie of een conflict, we willen gewoon wat meer interactie, aldus Barrichello.
