Mercedes werkte 24 uur per dag aan wederopstanding

Het team van Mercedes behaalde in Canada een klinkende dubbelzege. Dat is gezien de mindere prestaties twee weken eerder in Monaco opmerkelijk. In het prinsdom werd de regerend kampioen op waarde geklopt en stond de Duitse renstal zelfs niet eens op het podium. Om in Montreal het een en ander recht te zetten is vervolgens keihard gewerkt door Mercedes.

Motorsportbaas Toto Wolff verklaarde aan Formula1.com: "Na Monaco begrepen we vrij snel waarom de zondag was verlopen zoals die verlopen was, maar we moesten ook de donderdag en zaterdag nog doorgronden. Dat was lastiger. Een groep engineers stak de koppen bij elkaar om in alle rust te beoordelen wat er allemaal was gebeurd en waar het was misgegaan."

"Na Monaco brandde er 24 uur per dag, zeven dagen per week licht in de fabriek in Brackley. De simulator draaide tien dagen op een rij 24 uur per dag. Er zijn geen magische ontdekkingen in deze sport of golden bullets, het draait allemaal om data analyseren en daar de juiste conclusies uit trekken. Daarbij lieten we geen steen op de andere en hebben we alles onderzocht."

"Toch zou ik niet zover willen gaan om te spreken van een fundamentele doorbraak. Monaco was een grauw weekend voor ons, maar we moeten er niet te depressief over doen. En in Montreal zag alles er weer geweldig uit, maar dat betekent niet dat alle problemen nu opgelost zijn. We snappen de situatie nu veel beter en dat is belangrijk, maar Bakoe is weer een verhaal op zich."

Boehoe, wederopstanding. Monaco is gewoon een circuit wat die auto niet ligt, motor van veel kleinere importantie dan op de circuits daarvoor. Boehoe, wederopstanding. Monaco is gewoon een circuit wat die auto niet ligt, motor van veel kleinere importantie dan op de circuits daarvoor. Canada ligt hen gewoon weer wel, kijk maar naar de top10 van afgelopen zondag. Mercedes motor anyone? Dus gewoon een circuit wat even minder ging, Singapore zal straks niet anders zijn. Nu op naar de volgende race en daar weer hopen op een prachtig gevecht! Avanti!

Vraag mij af of ze ook een 1-2 gehaald zouden hebben als Ferrari niet zover terug gevallen zou zijn en als Max niet uitgevallen was.

  @ TURBOSLAK.... eigenlijk willen we dat niet meer zien. De dominantie van Merc weten we nu wel. Dan hoeven we die kop van Toto ook minder te zien. Ben geen Ferrari fan maar was wel VET blij dat ze de grijze muizen te grazen namen.
