Technische team van Sauber krijgt op zijn falie

Sauber-teambaas Monisha Kaltenborn heeft de technische afdeling in Hinwil een spreekwoordelijke schop onder de kont gegeven. Ze verwacht betere prestaties van de Zwitserse renstal. Het is volgens haar te makkelijk om naar de 2016-specificatie Ferrari-motor te wijzen, want de aerodynamica van de C36 deugt ook niet. Juli is de maand van de waarheid.

Sauber introduceert bij de Grands Prix van Oostenrijk, Groot-Brittannië en Hongarije de nodige nieuwe onderdelen in een poging om aansluiting te vinden bij de middenmoot. Kaltenborn: "De auto is niet wat het moet zijn en het technische team moet de competitiviteit nu verbeteren. Dat is duidelijk het doel. Dat weten ze op de werkvloer ook. Het is aan hen om het pakket voor Spielberg en Silverstone naar een hoger niveau te tillen."

"Er komt iets in Oostenrijk, en daarna nog in Groot-Brittannië en Hongarije. Daarmee moeten we flinke stap voorwaarts zetten. Ons vizier is gericht op de middenmoot. We hebben geen concrete positie in ons hoofd. We willen aansluiten bij de overige teams in de middenmoot en dan zien we wel hoe ver we komen. Het is een uitdaging voor ons technische team en die gaan ze niet uit de weg. Nu moeten ze laten zien wat ze in hun mars hebben."

Longbow

De ontwikkeling van de C36 is gehinderd door een gebrek aan middelen. De financiële crisis eindigde door de komst van investeringsmaatschappij Longbow Finance, maar het leed was al geschied. "Het kost tijd voordat het proces weer op de rails staat. Dat gebeurt niet binnen de kortste keren, ook niet als je al decennialang in deze sport actief bent", aldus Kaltenborn.

"Ik heb er begrip voor dat het tijd vergt. We waren aan het begin niet top. Maar als je naar de aerodynamische kant van het verhaal kijkt, daar liggen onze problemen en onze windtunnel is toch niet verkeerd, al zeg ik het zelf. Ons technische team heeft alle benodigde middelen tot hun beschikking, het is nu aan hen."

  Longbow Finance, de huidige Sauber eigenaar, is de investeringsmaatschappij van de Zweedse miljardairs die Marcus Erricson al vele jaren steunen.
  Beetje onlogisch om eerst het team en Marcus' zitje veilig te stellen en hem dan te vervangen toch..
  Die blijft de komende jaren lekker zitten bij Sauber, waarschijnlijk met Matsushita naast hem volgend jaar

Het Nederlandse bedrijf Additive Industries. Daan Kersten, de CEO van dit
bedrijf heeft dit net in een persbericht bekend gemaakt.
Hoe krijgt ze dat toch steeds voor elkaar?!

Ik denk dat het team meer sponsoren zou kunnen aantrekken als Kaltenborn haar mega blunder niet had begaan. Ik vond het goed voor de sport dat er een vrouwelijke teambaas kwam, maar ze heeft alle respect verloren bij mij. Ik denk dat eventuele sponsoren haar hierdoor ook niet serieus nemen en dat zorgt ervoor dat er minder financiele middelen zijn en het team dus stilstaat in de ontwikkeling. Jammer, want ik heb altijd veel respect gehad voor Peter Sauber en zijn team.
