Liberty mikt op mix van F1 op open net en betaal-tv

Als het aan Liberty Media ligt, dan worden de Formule 1-races in de toekomst zowel op het open net als achter de decoder uitgezonden. Dat verklaarde commercieel directeur Sean Bratches tegenover Bild. Een regeling zoals in Groot-Brittannië, waar betaalzender Sky Sports verslag doet van alle races en open net Channel 4 de helft van de wedstrijden uitzendt, is het ideaalbeeld.

Bratches: "Ik voorzie een mix van de Formule 1 op het open net en op betaaltelevisie. Dit is belangrijk voor de fans en sponsors. Aan de ene kant verdienen we zo geld en aan de andere kant hebben we een groot bereik en versterken we het merk. Ik kan me voorstellen dat de belangrijkste races op het open net te zien zullen zijn en de rest achter de decoder, zodat we daar geld mee kunnen verdienen die we vervolgens weer in de sport investeren."

Het Britse model kan niet klakkeloos voor andere landen overgenomen worden, beseft Bratches. "Elke markt is anders. In Duitsland beslaat betaaltelevisie slechts 7 procent van het geheel, in de Verenigde Staten is dat maar liefst 80 procent. We zullen de karakteristieken en dynamiek van elke markt mee laten wegen en oplossingen op maat aanbieden. De Formule 1 op het open net is ook belangrijk voor ons."

    Ik betaal wel lekker.

    Voor dat geld krijg ik niet door reclame onderbroken races voorzien van , (voor mij persoonlijk dan) goed commentaar, een acceptabel, maar niet geweldig , voorprogramma. een vermakelijk programma zoals F1 Café. En door Ziggo Racing , krijg ik veel meer van andere klasses mee.

    Nee alles liever dan een gratis te kijken zender vol storende reclames.

      Helemaal eens! Ik zat tijdens de GP van Canada op Ibiza en keek dus gedwongen via RTL Oostenrijk (als ik me niet vergis) Man, man, man, wat een armoe! Reclameblokken die zonder overdrijven zeker 8 minuten duurden! Super irritant. Mol mag dan weleens wat missen of verkeerd vertalen, ik ben erg content met het betaalde Ziggo-aanbod.

      Ik heb ook nog nooit een goede gevonden zonder gezeik met reclames, tachtig onzichtbare kruisjes waar ik op moet klikken, vastlopers, haperingen, drukte op de lijn, slechte beeldkwaliteit en ga zo maar door.
      Waarom post je hem nu niet gewoon dan in plaats van wachten op de chat? Of mag dat niet?

      Zolang je de ace player installeert, kun je gewoon HD streams vinden. Ace streams. Niet de gewone crickfree en zo...dat is echt reclame troep.

      Ik weet, ik ben goed, maar kan jammer genoeg nog steeds niet in de toekomst kijken :-(
      Er is nu geen HD stream, derhalve valt er op dit moment weinig te posten :-D
      En dan de vraag of het mag of niet. Hmm.... Hint: SKY zit normaal achter een decoder

    Op een andere site heb ik gelezen dat Liberty Media het tijdschema van de GP van de VS heeft aangepast tbv een concert van Timberlake. Reden? De organisatie wil meer bezoekers op het circuit houden voor het concert dat Justin Timberlake later op die avond geeft.
    De teams zijn er alles behalve blij mee omdat dit voor de medewerkers (monteurs etc..) betekend dat ze langere dagen moeten maken.

    Vernieuwing is prima, alleen moet de F1 wel centraal (blijven) staan en ze moeten er geen kermis van (gaan) maken.

      Dit zijn nu precies de Amerikaanse praktijken waar de echte fans niet op zitten te wachten. F1 volgers zijn overwegend non-amerikaans dus dit soort dingen hoeft gewoon niet. Zit gewoon geld achter (promotor JT betaalt LM hiervoor). Gewoon Bernie praktijken maar dan met 'show'.

      En toch denk ik dat Epol611 uiteindelijk gelijk heeft. Amerikanen roepen altijd dat alles mogelijk is, 'realy big opportunities on all sides', maar kiezen straks uiteindelijk voor de hoogste bieder (lees: pay tv).

    F1 op het open net is noodzakelijk om nieuwe fans te vergaren en mensen er kennis mee te maken. Een paar races per jaar is dan voldoende, maar wel goede en uitgebreide verslaggeving. Als die mensen er kennis mee hebben gemaakt willen ze er vanzelf wel een abonnement
