Ron Dennis doet afstand van aandelen in McLaren

Ron Dennis gaat zijn aandelen in de McLaren Technology Group verkopen, zo weet Sky Sports F1. De Brit moest eind vorig jaar al zijn functie als directeur van de Britse sportwagenfabrikant afstaan, maar hij bleef een deel van de aandelen in het bedrijf beheren. Daar doet hij nu toch afstand van, voor een bedrag van 275 miljoen pond.

Een bevestiging van de definitieve scheiding tussen McLaren en Dennis wordt vrijdagochtend verwacht. Volgens bronnen zullen de McLaren Technology Group en McLaren Automotive Limited nu samensmelten onder de noemer McLaren Group. Dennis stond meer dan 35 jaar aan het roer van McLaren en onder zijn leiding vierde de Britse renstal grote successen in de Formule 1.

Een woordvoerder van Dennis wilde niet reageren op de berichten en McLaren was niet bereikbaar voor commentaar. Het wachten is nu op officiële berichten.

Het zou mij ook niet verbazen als we hem nog weer terug zien als teameigenaar. Wellicht dat hij wel achter één van de Chinese partijen zit die interesse hebben om een team te beginnen.

    Einde van een tijdperk, een self-made legende vd F1.
    Vind het nog steeds jammer dat hij McLaren niet voor 1.65 miljard kon overnemen met z'n Chinese investeerders.
    Hoop hem en z'n welbekende Ron-speak snel terug te zien als eigenaar van een ander team,

      Het zou mij ook niet verbazen als we hem nog weer terug zien als teameigenaar. Wellicht dat hij wel achter één van de Chinese partijen zit die interesse hebben om een team te beginnen.

      Hij heeft zoveel connecties in de autosport en bij grote bedrijven dat hij ook makkelijk een ingang heeft bij grote motorbouwers om een partnership aan te gaan. Hij heeft in ieder geval de ervaring en kennis om een volledig team neer te zetten. Als hij ook de drive en motivatie heeft, zie ik het hem wel doen.

      @Darlos: Ja, daar zou je wel gelijk in kunnen hebben. Maar 70 is nog niet zo oud als je nog fit bent. Ik zie een man als hij ook niet achter de geraniums zitten tussen andere bejaarden. :-)

    Wat je ook van Ron Dennis mag vinden. Ik vind het nog steeds een schande dat hij op deze manier de formule 1 moest verlaten. Hij heeft veel betekent voor de formule 1.

    Rentenieren is een goede eigenschap van R. Dennis die heeft al lang zijn schapen op het droge staan. Waarom nog in een renstal investeren?? Kijken naar de F1 in de huidige staat van dienst is interessant met andere woorden gezegd zet een F1 stal op in de tijd dat R. Dennis actief was waarbij hij vele prijzen heeft binnengehaald voor Mc-Laren. Het gaat je goed Ron een markant iemand die er voor Mc-Laren heeft gestaan in goede en slechte tijden en geniet van je rust en succes naast de dingen die je nog gaat doen.
