F1-technologie gebruikt voor noodtransport baby's

Technologie die Formule 1-coureurs beschermt in het geval van een crash is nu gebruikt om een veilige omgeving te creëren voor pasgeboren baby's die noodtransport nodig hebben. Williams staat bekend als Formule 1-team, maar met de Advanced Engineering-tak heeft de Britse firma bijgedragen aan het ontwerp en de productie van 'The Babypod 20'.

In samenwerking met Advanced Healthcare Technology, een ontwikkelingsinstituut in de gezondheidszorg, is de 'Babypod' tot stand gekomen. De Babypod kan krachten oplopend tot 20G weerstaan en is ontworpen voor draaggemak en eenvoudig vervoer. Bovendien is het aanzienlijk goedkoper dan een standaard transport-couveuse.

Craig Wilson van Williams Advanced Engineering: "De parallellen tussen een Formule 1-auto en een transportapparaat voor pasgeboren baby's zijn op het eerste gezicht niet duidelijk, maar beide vereisen een lichtgewicht en sterke structuur die de inzittenden veilig houdt in geval van een ongeluk. We hebben de bestaande Babypod gepakt en dat idee verder uitgewerkt tot een compacte en gebruiksvriendelijke versie. Bovendien, en dat is niet onbelangrijk, kunnen we de productie opschroeven zodat meer ziekenhuizen mee kunnen profiteren van deze technologie."

    Hulde, een mooi idee, met een goede uitwerking. Zo zie je maar. *alleen maar hopen dat ze er niet per ongeluk een F1 engine bij hangen :)

    Iemand al eens ge-Googled op "Babypod"?

    Ik kwam h-e-l-e-m-a-a-l iets anders tegen dan een transport-couveuse, nlm, en ik citeer :

    "Een Spaans bedrijf heeft een tampon met een luidspreker voor ongeboren baby's erin ontwikkeld.
    De Spaanse gadget, die de naam Babypod meekreeg, speelt in op studies die aantonen dat foetussen al vanaf zestien weken op muziek reageren, schrijft Babypod.
    Volgens het bedrijf werkt een uitwendige speaker echter onvoldoende, omdat het geluid door onder meer buikwand, vetlaag en baarmoeder zou worden gedempt.
    Door een speaker vaginaal in te brengen, komt die vlakbij het hoofdje van de foetus te zitten en komen geluidsgolven ongehinderd binnen. De Babypod speelt muziek af met een maximaal volume van 54 decibel.
    Spaanse zangeres Soraya gaf onlangs al een speciaal concert voor een groep zwangere vrouwen die de Babypod droegen. De Babypod heeft een volumeschakelaar in het snoer en kost 149 euro."

    Verklaart ineens waarom het geluid van de huidige F1-wagens ineens omlaag moest. ;) ;)
