Barcelona gaat Circuit de Catalunya opnieuw asfalteren

Het Circuit de Catalunya in de buurt van Barcelona krijgt een nieuwe asfaltlaag. Die berichten circuleren in de Spaanse pers. De beslissing om de baan opnieuw te asfalteren is ingegeven door het feit dat het circuit van de MotoGP-dreigt te vallen.

Oorspronkelijk was het de bedoeling om pas na de Spaanse Grand Prix van volgend jaar de nieuwe asfaltlaag te brengen, maar dat is naar voren gehaald omdat de MotoGP problemen heeft met de huidige staat van de baan. Het gaat dan vooral om bocht 13 en de chicane.

Het circuit kan het nieuws overigens nog niet bevestigen. "We kunnen niets mededelen over dingen waarover we nog geen beslissing hebben genomen, dus dit is een beetje voorbarig." De Spaanse media weten het echter zeker, het Circuit de Cataluny krijgt een nieuwe asfaltlaag.
