Investeerders zetten massaal aandelen F1 te koop

De investeerders die bijgedragen hebben aan de overname van de Formule 1 door Liberty Media willen de aandelen die ze voor hun hulp kregen graag zo snel mogelijk verzilveren. Dat schrijft Christian Sylt in de Telegraph. Liberty Media nam begin dit jaar een meerderheidsbelang in de Formule 1 en betaalde daar zo'n 3 miljard dollar cash voor.

Meer dan de helft van dat bedrag was afkomstig van een verzameling investeringsfondsen, zeven in totaal. Die investeringsmaatschappijen mochten 29,4 procent van de aandelen verdelen tegen een vriendenprijs van 25 dollar per aandeel. Dat heeft de investeerders geen windeieren gelegd; de aandelen waren vrijdag 34,71 dollar per stuk waard. Dat is een winst van bijna 39 procent.

Veel investeringsfondsen hebben hun aandelen nu te koop gezet om die winst te innen. De periode dat de investeerders hun aandelen niet mochten verhandelen is verstreken en daarop hebben zes van de zeven investeringsmaatschappijen zich geregistreerd om (een deel van) hun aandelen te verkopen. SPO Advisory is het enige fonds dat alle aandelen behoudt.

De firma Ruane, Cunniff & Goldfarb is de grootste aandeelhouder onder de investeerders. De investeringsmaatschappij beheert zo'n 8 procent van de aandelen. Dat pakket vertegenwoordigt een waarde van meer dan 500 miljoen. Ruane, Cunniff & Goldfarb heeft 80 procent van de aandelen beschikbaar gesteld voor verkoop.

Vier fondsen hebben hun volledige aandelenpakket te koop gezet. Voormalig Formule 1-eigenaar CVC Capital wil ook meer dan de helft van hun aandelen van de hand doen. De investeringsmaatschappij hoopt er meer dan 440 miljoen dollar aan te verdienen. Bernie Ecclestone heeft eveneens aandelen te koop aangeboden, waarna hij minder dan 1 procent van de aandelen in zijn bezit houdt.

  Of te wel, met o.a. jouw geld dat in je verzekering/pensioen pot zit zijn hun mee aan het gokken op grote schaal. Soms gaat het goed soms gaat het fout.

  TWSLEX: het ligt aan het mandaat dat deze investeringsfunds hebben. Bovendien, 500mio klinkt als veel geld maar zoek maar eens op hoeveel het ABP beheert. En dan zul je zien dat 500mio niet veel geld is. Met andere woorden; misschien mogen deze fondsen wel doen wat ze doen. Ik denk het wel.

  Zolang ze onder de streep voldoende winst maken voor de klant mogen ze doen en laten wat ze willen. Gebeurt dat niet dan zijn ze snel weg wegens gebrek aan klanten.

Hadden we in Nederland niet ook een keer zo'n partij? World Online was dat toch. De eigenaren hebben meer aandelen beschikbaar gesteld en een paar dagen na beursgang klapte de koers in.

  Dan moet je toch maar eens overwegen om te beleggen :) zit risico's aan. En 39% klinkt veel. Maar ook dat kan vereenzelvigen meer en makkelijk. Ik zie het dagelijks.
