McLaren mag nog F1-bestuurslid naar voren schuiven

Het team van McLaren gaat waarschijnlijk op korte termijn gebruikmaken van de optie om een zetel in het bestuur van de Formule 1 te bemannen. Dat schrijft Christian Sylt in The Independent. McLaren ontving in 2012 al het aanbod om een bestuurslid naar voren te schuiven en zo een vinger in de Formule 1-pap te krijgen, maar daar ging de Britse renstal toen niet op in.

Mercedes en Ferrari kregen destijds hetzelfde aanbod en hapten wel toe. Nu Ron Dennis zijn aandelen in McLaren verkocht heeft is de weg echter vrij voor de Britse renstal om ook toe te treden tot de directie. The Independent bericht dat onenigheid tussen Dennis en de overige aandeelhouders de grootste horde was voor het aanvaarden van de zetel in het bestuur.

Die horde is nu weggehaald. Liberty Media meldt in officiële documenten dat McLaren nog geen directeur benoemd heeft. Een bron rondom het team laat weten dat hier spoedig verandering in zal komen, al is nog niet duidelijk wie de renstal zal vertegenwoordigen in de directie. "Ik geloof niet dat McLaren hier al een beslissing over genomen heeft."
