Sims completeert test in McLaren uit 2008 op Silverstone

Alexander Sims heeft voor het eerst kennis gemaakt met de krachten van een Formule 1-auto. De Formule 3 Euroseries-coureur voerde een test voor McLaren uit op het circuit van Silverstone. Sims reed met de MP4-23 uit 2008 zestien vliegende ronden en genoot. De test hoorde bij McLaren Autosport BRDC Award die hij in 2008 won.

Dit was de meest geweldige ervaring in mijn leven tot nu toe, begint de 22-jarige Brit. Ik heb al wat goede auto's bestuurd, maar de McLaren MP4-23 deed ze allemaal vervagen en deed me versteld staan. De eerste keer volgas en dan de reactie bij het aanremmen, gewoonweg ongelofelijk.

Toen ik de banden op temperatuur kreeg kwam ik er al snel achter wat er kan met zo'n auto. Ik wil iedereen bedanken die dit mogelijk heeft gemaakt. Het was geweldig om met Vodafone McLaren Mercedes samen te werken en mijn dank gaat ook naar de McLaren Autosport BRDC Awards voor het instellen van zulke prachtige prijzen.

McLaren-testteammanager Indy Lall: Alexander is een van de aardigste personen die je ooit tegen zal komen. En op de baan deed hij wat van hem verwacht werd onder deze omstandigheden. Hij leverde goed werk, zijn feedback was nauwkeurig en we wensen hem succes voor de rest van zijn carrière, waarin hij ongetwijfeld de top gaat halen.
