Tost denkt nog lang niet aan stoppen bij Toro Rosso

Franz Tost piekert er vooralsnog niet over om binnen afzienbare tijd met pensioen te gaan. De Oostenrijker is toch al 61 jaar, maar hij staat nog elke ochtend vol energie op om leiding te geven aan Scuderia Toro Rosso, het team waar hij sinds 2006 als teambaas werkzaam is.

Hij schept er nog altijd plezier in om de scepter te zwaaien bij de Italiaanse renstal en om de talenten die Red Bull bij het opleidingsteam stalt te kneden. "Hoe lang ik nog door wil gaan in de Formule 1? Zolang als ik het vol kan houden", vertelde Tost aan Motorsport-Total.com.

"Ik heb nooit het gevoel dat ik me weer op moet peppen voor de volgende race. Nee, ik verheug me erop! Dat de pensioengerechtigde leeftijd in zicht komt, interesseert me niet. Zo oud als ik eruit zie, word ik toch nooit. Ik schrik me elke ochtend een hoedje als ik in de spiegel kijk", knipoogt hij.

    Tost ziet er m.i. inderdaad eerder uit als een 70-jarige, met alle respect.

    Wordt tijd dat hij weer(!) de bezem door Toro Rosso haalt, want Franz lijkt z’n coureurs niet in de hand te hebben.

    Sinds dat Max daar weg is lees je bijna nooit geen reacties meer van Tost is mij wel opgevallen.
    Destijds had hij alleen maar lof over zijn beide coureurs.
    Ik krijg ook meer en meer het idee dat hij door Marko en Co gedirigeerd wordt wat betreft de pers e.d.

      Toen Max er nog reed boekte het team prachtige resultaten en stond volop in de belangstelling en zat soms dicht tegen het podium aan. Dus ook Tost was interessant.
      Na het vertrek van Max donderde de hele tent in elkaar tot het niveau dat ze nu hebben waarin Kvyat achter de Saubers aanhobbelt en Carlos droomt van de ongeupdate auto van Palmer. Wat Tost nu te melden heeft is gewoon niet meer zo interessant.

    Geweldig! En gelijk heeft hij .. waarom zou hij omwille van leeftijd moeten vertrekken?

    Neen, ik heb geweldig respect voor mensen met die attitude, vooral wat hij zegt in de laatste alinea. Trouwens, ik heb altijd vraagtekens bij mensen die naar hun pensioen verlangen. Zo'n zonde om door de keuzes die ze gemaakt hebben in een situatie te komen dat ze uiteindelijk gaan verlangen naar hun pensioen.
