Chase Carey wenst een titelontknoping in Abu Dhabi

Formule 1-baas Chase Carey hoopt dat de titelstrijd pas in de laatste race van het seizoen - de Grand Prix van Abu Dhabi - beslist wordt. Sebastian Vettel en Lewis Hamilton zijn op dit moment de voornaamste titelkandidaten. Vettel heeft een voorsprong van veertien punten op Hamilton.

Een voorkeur heeft Carey niet. Aan Auto Bild deelde hij mede: "Of ik juich voor de Duitser in een Italiaanse auto of voor de Brit in een Duitse auto? Die vraag krijg ik vaker, maar ik wil gewoon een goede race zien. Mijn wens is dat het kampioenschap open blijft tot Abu Dhabi."

En dat Vettel niet actief is op social media interesseert de Amerikaan verder weinig. "Helden worden niet via een bepaalde mal gemaakt. We hebben verschillende karakters nodig en Sebastian is een van de grote uithangborden van onze sport, ook al is hij anders dan Hamilton", aldus Carey.
