Blash: "Een geïrriteerde Bernie is een gevaarlijke Bernie"

Er waait een stevige frisse wind door de Formule 1 sinds de overname door Liberty Media. Naast Bernie Ecclestone heeft ook op andere posities een wisseling van de wacht plaatsgevonden. Zo is Herbie Blash vertrokken als assistent van wedstrijdleider Charlie Whiting bij de internationale autosportbond FIA. Hij is vervangen door de jongere Laurent Mekies.

Blash koestert geen wrok. Aan Crash.net deelde hij mede: "Als ik kijk wat de nieuwe eigenaren van de Formule 1 allemaal doen, dan vind ik dat geweldig. Ze openen de paddock, betrekken de fans er meer bij en begeven zich op social media, iets dat onder Bernie Ecclestone niet gebeurde. Bernie was alleen gefocust op geld verdienen voor CVC. En als je ziet in hoeverre dat hem gelukt is, petje af."

"Bernie werkte niet voor de fans, hij werkte voor CVC. Liberty Media pakt het anders aan. Het is interessant om alle ontwikkelingen te volgen. Op veel fronten verandert er het nodige. De nieuwe garde is aan het roer komen te staan. Toto Wolff van Mercedes reken ik daartoe, en Maurizio Arrivabene van Ferrari, hoewel hij namens Marlboro al lang in dit wereldje rondliep."

Het valt echter niet helemaal uit te sluiten dat Ecclestone nog iets onderneemt om zichzelf terug naar binnen te werken bij de wereld die hij groot heeft gemaakt. "Laat ik het zo formuleren, een geïrriteerde Bernie is een gevaarlijke Bernie", aldus Blash.

    Hij had de kans al om Manor over te nemen voorbij laten gaan , dus het lijkt mij meer waarschijnlijk dat de oude man nog een jaartje of wat nog mee rondreist op sommige races en dan van zijn pensioen gaat genieten

      Probleem bij manor was dat zij geen of nauwelijks een 2017 auto ontwikkeld hadden. Waren zij in een gevorderd stadia voor 2017 dan was Manor wel overgenomen dan wel door bernie dan wel door een andere partij

    Alsof Bernie nog maar iets te betekenen heeft binnen de F1 nu. Vroeger had hij wellicht nog angst of respect bij de teams weten los te krijgen, maar ik heb het idee dat dat wel voorbij is. Net zoals Ron Dennis mannen die niet meer terug komen.

      Ach, zo riep iedereen ook dat Brawn echt niet terug zou komen en zou blijven vissen. Eénieder die die geruchten wilde geloven werd voor gek verklaard door sommigen.

      Ik zie die gekke ouwe Bernie nog wel terugkeren met een team op de grid, daar waar het ook allemaal mee begon.

      Het onderschatten van Bernie door anderen is altijd zijn grote kracht geweest. Onderschat ook de bejaarde Bernie niet, voor je het weet staat hij er weer op een manier die je lang niet zag aankomen. Ik acht de kans dat hij toch weer in een of andere vorm terug komt hoger dan dat hij wegblijft.

      Bernie deed altijd alleen maar dingen omdat hij er geld mee kon verdienen. Daarom geloof ik niet dat hij op korte termijn terug zal keren met een eigen team. Hij heeft het immers zelf eerst onmogelijk gemaakt om met een team geld te verdienen.
      Als hij terugkomt dan is dat op een manier die wij niet verwachten.

      Vergis je niet... Bernie is al terug. Als mede eigenaar van Paul Ricard zou hij zomaar een circuit-verbond kunnen organiseren om het een en ander te reorganiseren.

    To nu toe is liberty media ook alleen maar een hoop blah blah..... paddock open gesteld?? Ja , als je een paarduizend dollar betaald mag je er even op en neer lopen .... sociale media?? Wauw ,ik krijg nu één mailtje per week van de F1 organisatie , nou nou....

      Heb je dan geen Facebook? Voorheen zag ik via hun pagina één keer tijdens de race driver of the day vote voorbij komen, nu nemen ze continu filmpjes op of plaatsen video's van vroeger etc. Is echt niet te vergelijken met voorheen, tenzij je onder een rots leeft.

      Moet dat dan als grote verdienste gezien worden , zelf mn lokale kruidenier is actief op facebook, big deal.... En sowieso is alles al lang te bekijken op youtube wat ze plaatsen aan oude filmpjes etc etc... , dus wat heeft liberty media tot nu toe voor een opzienbarends gedaan??,, met hun miljoenen budget... Er is een F1 app maar die is er al een tijd....

      Zulke ingrijpende verandering gaan niet van de een op de andere dag. Feit is wel dat er op een andere manier gefilmd wordt op het paddock. Meet video's op de F1 app en in gesprek met circuits om te kijken naar de mogelijkheden.
