Details maken verschil in strijd tussen Ferrari en Mercedes

De titelstrijd gaat dit jaar tussen Mercedes en Ferrari. Daarbij keren de kansen telkens. Op langzame circuits heeft Ferrari de overhand, op snelle banen is Mercedes in het voordeel. De twee concurrenten ontlopen elkaar weinig en geven elkaar geen duimbreed toe. Dat zal ook zo zijn in de tweede seizoenshelft, denkt Ferrari-coureur Kimi Raikkonen.

"Het hangt af van de banden, van de weersomstandigheden en veel andere factoren. Details maken het verschil", begint de Fin. "Nu hebben we vakantie en we zien wel hoe het zich gaat ontvouwen op Spa-Francorchamps. Je kunt ervan uitgaan dat we het daar minder makkelijk krijgen dan in Hongarije. We proberen onszelf te verbeteren en hopen daar natuurlijk ook snel te zijn."

"Er zijn circuits die ons beter liggen en er zijn aspecten die we dienen te verbeteren. Vooral de kwalificaties zijn nog een verbeterpuntje, Mercedes beschikt daarin over meer vermogen. Ook dit hangt van veel dingen af. Je kunt niet puur naar de lay-out van een circuit kijken om aan de hand daarvan te voorspellen of het goed zal gaan voor ons of niet."

Technisch directeur Mattia Binotto voegt toe: "Het is per race verschillend. Er zijn in de eerste seizoenshelft races geweest waarin wij competitief waren en in andere races was Mercedes juist competitief. Ik heb geen duidelijke trend in de competitiviteit van deze twee teams kunnen bespeuren."

"De ontwikkeling is absoluut zeer belangrijk. Dat gaat van race tot race. Er zijn nog veel wedstrijden te gaan, we zijn pas halverwege het seizoen. Ik zie geen reden waarom de trend in de tweede seizoenshelft in het voordeel van het ene of het andere team zal uitslaan."

Ik denk dat gridstraffen nog wel eens een cruciale rol kan gaan spelen.

  Gridstraffen zullen wel meevallen. Zowel Mercedes als Ferrari hebben het prima voor elkaar. Mr. Monza gaf hier laatst een prima uitleg hoe ze nu de motoren rouleren bij Ferrari, die het wellicht gewoon tot het einde van dit seizoen volhouden.

  Heb je het artikel wel gelezen? Het artikel gaat over Mercedes en Ferrari. Wat hebben eventuele gridstraffen van Red Bull daar dan mee te maken? Echt 0,0 lijkt mij.
