McLaren test in eerste training met 'halo' op de auto

Het team van McLaren bereidt zich straks in de eerste vrije training voor de Belgische Grand Prix alvast voor op de komst van de 'halo' in 2018. De wagen van Stoffel Vandoorne is uitgerust met het systeem om de hoofden van de rijders beter te beschermen.

Achter de halo is een stellage van sensoren aangebracht aan de airbox, om de gevolgen van het systeem voor de luchtstromen over de auto in kaart te brengen. De teams mogen volgend jaar in beperkte aerodynamische aanpassingen maken aan de bovenkant van de halo.

Mercedes en Sauber hebben de bolides van Lewis Hamilton en Marcus Ericsson voor de eerste sessie op Spa-Francorchamps ook uitgerust met een halo. Mercedes testte eerder deze maand op de Hungaroring al met de nieuwste uitvoering van het systeem, de 'halo 4'.
