Charles Leclerc: "Plekje bij Sauber voor volgend jaar zou mooi zijn"

Het moet wel heel raar lopen wil Charles Leclerc met zijn prestaties in de Formule 2 geen stoeltje in de Formule 1 voor volgend jaar kunnen afdwingen. De coureur uit Monaco heeft zijn klasse in de Formule 2 al meermaals laten zien dit jaar, terwijl hij het op moet nemen tegen meer ervaren mannen.

In de wandelgangen is men het er over eens dat Leclerc voor volgend jaar een kans in de Formule 1 verdiend. Ferrari maakte afgelopen week bekend nog een jaar door te gaan met Kimi Raikkonen, terwijl de bevestiging van Sebastian Vettel waarschijnlijk ook niet lang meer zal duren.

Zelf is Leclerc open over zijn toekomst: "Voor de komende tijd ligt de focus volledig op Formule 2 en het winnen van de titel. Ferrari regelt mijn zaken, ik heb daar verder niet veel invloed op. Ik hoop dat ik volgend jaar in de Formule 1 zit, dit zal dan waarschijnlijk bij Sauber zijn."
