Rommelig debuut voor Jenson Button in Japanse Super GT

Het debuut van Jenson Button in de Japanse Super GT is niet heel denderend verlopen. De voormalig wereldkampioen Formule 1 van 2009 wist de race uiteindelijk als twaalfde te finishen, de een na laatste positie in de race. Button kreeg twee keer een straf en was daarmee gelijk kansloos voor een goed resultaat.

De race voor Button begon meteen slecht toen hij het stuur overnam van een van zijn teamgenoten. Button werd te vroeg weggestuurd en kwam daarbij bijna in aanraking met een concurrent. De 'unsafe' release zorgde voor een straf, maar nadat deze straf was ingelost kreeg Button nog een straf vanwege inhalen onder de Safety Car.

Ondanks de straffen wisten Button en teamgenoten Nakajima en Muto de race nog wel te finishen, al was het voor de eer. Het is nog niet bekend of Button meer races zal rijdens namens Honda in de Japanse enduranceklasse.
