Pat Symonds behoort tot de groep adviseurs die Ross Brawn om zich heen verzameld heeft voor het opstellen van de reglementen voor de periode na 2020. Dat verklapte de voormalig technisch directeur van Williams en Renault in gesprek met Bild.

Symonds: "Het panel bestaat momenteel uit vier leden, maar dat aantal zal nog groeien naar twaalf. We spreken regelmatig met elkaar af in Londen en proberen onze ervaring te gebruiken om de regels voor de toekomst vorm te geven. Het is een interessante opdracht en het is geweldig om weer met Ross samen te werken."

Brawn verkondigde eerder deze week dat hij het liefst de grid penalty's voor motorwissels uit de Formule 1 ziet verdwijnen. Ook DRS moest het ontgelden. De sportief directeur van de koningsklasse van de autosport mikt op auto's waarmee het eenvoudiger is om te slipstreamen.
