Valtteri Bottas rijdt 109 rondes tijdens Pirelli-bandentest

Valtteri Bottas is vrijdag ook in actie gekomen tijdens de Pirelli-bandentest op het circuit Paul Ricard. De Mercedes-coureur deed dit een dag nadat zijn teamgenoot Lewis Hamilton 114 ronden reed tijdens de bandentest.

Bottas legde in totaal 109 ronden af in warme en zonnige condities en daarmee komt het testaantal van Mercedes op 223 ronden in twee dagen. De twee coureurs die naar verwachting volgend jaar ook onder contract staan bij de Duitse renstal hebben daarmee ook het circuit leren kennen waar volgend jaar het Formule 1-circus neerstrijkt. Het circuit, dat eigendom is van voormalig Formule 1-eigenaar Bernie Ecclestone, is gastheer van Grand Prix van Frankrijk dat volgend jaar terugkeert op de kalender.

Dit jaar hebben alle teams de kans om de banden voor Pirelli te testen. Het gaat om de compounds die volgend jaar gebruikt gaan worden. Een extra voordeel halen de teams niet omdat alle data voor alle teams beschikbaar is. Welke compound er getest wordt is bij het testende team niet bekend.

De volgende test wordt in oktober na de Grand Prix van Mexico gehouden. Het team van Sauber zal dan de bandenleverancier bijstaan. Ook Force India zal daar een dag worden ingeroosterd voor de tests.

Het nieuws dat RedBull en Renault rond zijn mbt van Sainz laat hier wel lang op zich wachten. Andere sites hebben het al een paar uur staan. Incl bevestiging.
