Paul Ricard beperkt capaciteit voor Grand Prix in 2018

Het circuit van Paul Ricard gaat uit van 65.000 tot 70.000 toeschouwers bij de Franse Grand Prix van volgend jaar. Frankrijk keert in 2018 terug op de Formule 1-kalender en de baan in de buurt van Le Castellet biedt eigenlijk plaats aan 90.000 fans, maar men reduceert de capaciteit voor het eerste jaar.

De achterliggende gedachte is dat ze zichzelf hierdoor tijd verschaffen om de verkeerssituatie rondom het circuit te verbeteren. Aurelie Letellier, commercieel directeur voor de Grand Prix van Frankrijk, legt aan Reuters uit: "We zijn vol vertrouwen over onze mogelijkheden voor een uitverkocht huis, maar we stellen ons bescheiden op. We werken onder de aanname dat 65.000 tot 70.000 toeschouwers onze race zullen bijwonen. Dat is een redelijke doelstelling."

Verkeersmanagement staat bovenaan de lijst prioriteiten voor de organisatie van de Franse Grand Prix. "We hebben er vertrouwen in dat we creatieve oplossingen zullen bedenken om het circuit van Paul Ricard beter toegankelijk te maken. Het moge duidelijk zijn dat er uitdagingen zijn, maar we werken aan oplossingen en creatieve manieren om die te omzeilen", aldus Letellier.

Het circuit nabij Le Castellet was tussen 1971 en 1990 al veertien maal gastheer voor een Grand Prix. De laatste Formule 1-race in Frankrijk dateert uit 2008. Dat jaar kwamen er 78.000 toeschouwers af op de Franse Grand Prix op Magny-Cours.

Iemand al enig idee of het circuit de moeite zal zijn om een race bij te wonen?
Spa heb ik al een paar keer gedaan dus zou graag eens een ander circuit bezoeken dat bereikbaar is met de wagen. Of toch maar beter naar Duitsland?

Spa heb ik al een paar keer gedaan dus zou graag eens een ander circuit bezoeken dat bereikbaar is met de wagen. Of toch maar beter naar Duitsland?

  bereikbaar met de wagen? Dit circuit ligt helemaal in het zuiden van Frankrijk op 1285 km van Amsterdam.

Er zijn aardig wat races bereikbaar met de auto maar neem aan dat je bedoelt met korte afstand? Italië, Spanje en zelfs GB zijn goed te doen met de auto als je er een week of meer voor uit trekt.
Als je even kijkt waar het circuit Paul Ricard ligt kun je direct zien dat dit met auto een behoorlijke afstand is en denk dat het eigenlijk goedkoper is om even met het vliegtuig naar Marseille te gaan auto te huren en dan er heen te rijden.

  Alle races binnen europa zou ik aandurven met de auto. (Zuid-)Frankrijk is wel goed te doen imo. Voor mij is zelfs Oostenrijk, Monaco,Spanje,Hongarije zelfs nog verder weg

Met Ocon al in de F1 en straks Pierre Gasly en Charles Leclerc (hoewel Monegask) erbij en fabrieksteam Renault dat steeds stappen blijft maken lijkt me de toekomst van de GP op Paul Ricard er goed uitzien. Zeker als Leclerc en Ocon straks voor topteams rijden en met Max strijden voor de titel.

Ziet er op Google Maps al direct veeeeeeel beter bereikbaar uit dan Spa, dus die bescheidenheid komt ongetwijfeld uit een heel andere hoek. Zoals bijvoorbeeld het financiële risico.
