Video: IndyCar-coureurs over ontknoping op Sonoma

Het IndyCar-seizoen 2017 krijgt zondag een spannende ontknoping in de slotrace op het circuit van Sonoma. Josef Newgarden voert de tussenstand aan, maar Scott Dixon, titelverdediger Simon Pagenaud en Helio Castroneves hijgen hem in de nek en maken ook nog kans op het kampioenschap. Mobil 1 The Grid zocht de hoofdrolspelers op om vooruit te blikken op de seizoensfinale op Sonoma.

    Vroegah waren meerdere verschillende chassis: Lola, March, Penske, Swift...etc. Eenheidsworst klasses zoals Indycar, FE...uiteindelijk is het niet veel charme meer over.. en dan ren ik weer snel terug naar de Formule 1, de enige Formule klasse waar iedereen zijn eigen auto construeert. Ondanks de nadelen daarvan zoals dominantie.

      Ik heb de Indycar bolides voor volgend jaar gezien, en ik heb inmiddels een aardig beeld gekregen hoe de f1 er volgend jaar uit gaat zien, dus ik ren mss wel de andere kant op....

    Dit is wel echt een hele moeilijke keuze voor een liefhebber om van deze 3 er 1 te kiezen. Scott Dixon is namelijk de beste allround coureur van het veld naar mijn idee. Een sympathieke goedlachse gast die een master is in het fuel-saven.

    Helio zal in zijn waarschijnlijke afscheidsjaar de titel toekomen. Het is een groot kampioen, 3x winnaar op Indy, Die 1e winst was overigens een geweldig mooie, als rookie in een auto die niet door Penske ontworpen was. Destijds stapte ze voor een 1-off over naar Indy na 1995 een blamage te hebben gehad. Historische televisie van Bump Day (perfect uitgelegd door Derek Daly, staan nog steeds als klassieker op mijn harde schijf) (is ook te vinden op Youtube). De 2001 Indy met 2 Penske's aan kop na in het middenveld te zijn gestart was een historische overwinning. H3lio, ik gun het je.

    De meeste spectaculaire titelkandidaat is Josef Newgarden. Wat hij in zijn 1e jaar bij 'The Captain' heeft laten zien is van een waanzinnig niveau. In Barber was hij al geweldig door in zijn 3e race met nieuwe sponsor meteen te winnen. Een constant goede campagne voor de 1e Amerikaanse winnaar van het kampioenschap sinds Ryan Hunter Reay in 2013.

    Ik kan geen keuze maken, maar geef Scott Dixon toch de meeste kans. Dat puur op zijn kwaliteit en record op Sonoma in races waar hij moet. (2015)

    Mooi glooiend circuit, beter dan een ovalfinale. Ben alleen geen voorstander van een dubbele puntenregeling in de laatste race.
