Pascal Wehrlein: "Het wordt een zware race voor ons"

Het team van Sauber snakt naar het einde van het seizoen. In Hongarije werd een grote update voor de C36 geïntroduceerd, maar het bracht de Zwitserse renstal geen verbetering. Sauber heeft een wonder nodig om dit jaar nog punten te scoren, zo weet ook Pascal Wehrlein. De Duitser kwam niet verder dan de laatste tijd in de kwalificatie en hoopt er nog wat van te kunnen maken in de race.

Voor de camera van Ziggo Sport reageerde Wehrlein als volgt: "Het was een lastige sessie. We hadden gehoopt hier wat competitiever te zijn, maar helaas mag het niet zo zijn. Mijn eerste run moest ik afbreken en het team schroefde me een nieuw setje banden onder de auto. Ik kon slechts een goed rondje rijden in de kwalificatie, daarmee is het een teleurstellende dag geworden. Ik weet niet wat we van de race kunnen verwachten."

Teamgenoot Marcus Ericsson deed het nog minder goed dan Wehrlein en krijgt ook nog eens een straf vanwege een versnellingsbakwissel. Dat levert Ericsson een gridstraf op van vijf plaatsen. Veel maakt dat niet uit, aangezien Ericsson toch de langzaamste tijd reed.
