Geslaagde proef met 360 graden-camera's in Singapore

Formule 1-partner Tata Communications heeft tijdens de Grand Prix van Singapore een test met twee live 360 graden-camera's uitgevoerd. De ene camera stond in de paddock en de andere camera stond tussen het publiek. Het doel is om de televisiekijkers de gelegenheid te bieden om zelf hun ervaring samen te stellen en zich ter plekke te wanen. De proef was een succes.

Sean Bratches, commercieel directeur van de Formule 1: "Wij willen het volledige potentieel van de ervaring voor de Formule 1-fans benutten door gebruik te maken van de nieuwste snufjes op gebied van digitale technologie. Door middel van dit concept hebben we verkend hoe 360 graden-camera's en VR fans van over de hele wereld in het centrum van de actie kunnen plaatsen. Op die manier kunnen ze zich op nooit eerder vertoonde wijze onderdompelen in een Grand Prix."

Mehul Kapadia van Tata Communications: "Dit concept toont de talloze mogelijkheden die live 360 graden-video's bieden om de beleving van de Formule 1 te vergroten en om VR via live sport en entertainment in de huiskamer te brengen. Door de vertraging op het signaal te elimineren is het mogelijk om fans op een globale schaal live 360 graden-beelden voor te schotelen. Dit stelt sport- en entertainmentorganisaties in staat om geheel nieuwe inkomstenbronnen aan te boren."

Hopelijk is het volgende om in VR de race mee te kijken van uit de bestuurderscamera in 360graden.. ik zou dit echt gaaf vinden!

      Ik hoop het beeldkwaliteit 360p meer blokjes dan beeld tijdens een rondje. We leven in 2017 niet in 1997.

      Overdrijven is een vak apart. Statische ruis blijf je toch houden. Dat ligt namelijk geheel aan het draadloos (video)signaal wat verstoord wordt, niet aan het type camera dat gebruikt wordt.
      Daarbij waren de camera's, die in 1997 gebruikt werden, op meer en betere plaatsen geplaatst en zagen die onboards er mooier uit dan tegenwoordig.

      Klopt misschien wel overdreven gereageerd maar je snapt wat ik bedoel. Vroeger waren de onboard camera's veel meer 1 op coureur gericht (die is er nog maar wordt nooit gebruikt) van de zijkant, in 1997 was die recht boven de coureur veel beter. Ach ja er zijn ergere dingen in de wereld.

    De camera draait geen 360 graden. De versie die getest is draait 180 graden. En dan is het nog een camera die aan de zijkant zit en niet zoals bij de Indycar gewoon bovenop zit en daar alles vastlegt.
    Wat dat aan gaat loopt de Formule 1 dramatisch achter op deze technieken. Als je kijkt naar de NASCAR dat daar teams zijn die alles met VR camera's vastleggen, niet eens de betreffende broadcaster maar de teams zelf, dan mag de Formule 1 zich schamen met haar HD resolutie die pas enkele jaren geleden is geïntroduceerd.

      Dit zijn weer andere dan die 180 graden draaiende op de auto's. 1 in de paddock en 1 tussen het publiek.

      Op die van Vettel zou alleen de pitmuur te zien zijn. Op de beelden van Kimi en Max zou je waarschijnlijk wel de eerste bocht voorbij de pitmuur kunnen zien ;)
