Berger: "Red Bull is de Formule 1 helemaal niet zat"

Red Bull-baas Dietrich Mateschitz is niet uitgekeken geraakt op de Formule 1. Dat stelt oud-coureur Gerhard Berger in gesprek met ORF. De Oostenrijker was in de jaren negentig een van de eerste door Red Bull gesponsorde rijders en hij gelooft niet dat Mateschitz de sport de rug toe zal keren.

Berger: "Dietrich is de Formule 1 helemaal niet zat, die berichten kloppen niet. Natuurlijk is hij niet blij met de huidige situatie van Red Bull Racing. Maar dat is nog steeds een supersterk team. Zelfs in deze moeilijke fase heeft vrijwel niemand de renstal verlaten, ook niet technisch directeur Adrian Newey. Dat ze niet over een competitieve motor beschikken is op de lange termijn frustrerend voor ze."

"Red Bull heeft echter altijd geduld gehad en nu is dat meer nodig dan ooit. Het kan ook niet altijd goed gaan. Het is een moeilijke periode, maar je ziet al licht aan het einde van de tunnel. Honda als partner van Toro Rosso is slechts het begin. Ik geloof in Honda, waar een ware sportcultuur bestaat. Bovendien beschikken ze over de benodigde middelen en nu over een team met de Red Bull-mentaliteit."

"Ik kan me heel goed voorstellen dat Honda binnen afzienbare tijd topmotoren af gaat leveren. Verder is het een kwestie van wachten op de nieuwe motorreglementen. Totdat er een nieuwe motorformule komt zal niemand de vingers nog gaan branden aan de huidige complexe aandrijflijnen. Heeft Aston Martin de middelen en mogelijkheden om de Formule 1 te betreden? Ik weet het niet, maar ik betwijfel het."

Ik hoop dat Honda inderdaad weer eens met goede motoren komt.... wordt tijd voor meerdere goede motoren...?

  Met dat verschil dat ze nu al drie jaar hebben kunnen uitproberen en het ze nu misschien wel gaat lukken een goede motor te bouwen. Ik hoop alleen niet te goed. Komend jaar aub nog net achter de Renault motor ;-)

  "Elke coureur mag volgend seizoen nog maar drie exemplaren van de verbrandingsmotor, turbo en MGU-H gebruiken,
  terwijl voor de MGU-K, energieopslag en ECU een limiet van twee geldt."

Ik weet het niet met Honda. In '99 en '08 gooide ze al de handdoek in de ring. Dat geeft mij het gevoel dat maar 'dit' *knipt met vingers* hoeft te gebeuren en ze stoppen er weer mee.

  Ze hebben afgelopen jaren continu vingers horen knippen en zijn er nog steeds. Gezien de Japanse cultuur verwacht ik dat het vorige vertrek uit de sport er eerder toe leidt dat ze nu niet rusten, voordat er succes behaald is. Het is een eervol volk. Ik denk daarnaast dat Toro Rosso echt een testcase is voor Red Bull Racing en dat laatstgenoemd team nu al tot over z'n oren betrokken wordt bij de ontwikkeling van de motor. Het kan wel eens de kortste route naar een volgende titel zijn.

licht aan het eind van de tunnel? Tja ,of dat altijd positief is... Hoorde ooit een Vietnam-veteraan vertellen,, ja dan moest je helemaal oppassen , stond er een V.C met een Ak 47 klaar om je met kogels te bestoken... Verhaal komt er dus op neer , 'heb maar geduld tot 2021'... Horner had het er feitelijk ook al over, betekend dus dat ze Ricci en Verstappen kunnen vergeten bij RB,, zodra ze weg kunnnen gaan ze weg.... Moet je ook nog steeds maar afwachten wat er achter in de RB komt te liggen en afwachten of het überhaupt competitief wordt.. Al wordt het een nieuw concept,, Mercedes, Renault en Ferrari zullen sowieso een grote voorsprong hebben op eventueel nieuwe motoren leverancier... Matechitz zal gezien zn leeftijd er ook niet vrolijk van worden als er feitelijk verteld wordt , 'wacht maar tot na 2021' ... Aan de Fans vertellen 'ja jongens en meisjes ,nog een jaartje of 4 en dan komt alles goed' Kansloos als niet snel, dus gewoon vanaf 2018 , Renault op gelijke hoogte komt met Merc en Ferrari... Anders zie ik het huidige RB nog wel helemaal verdwijnen... Dus kijk maar uit met dat licht aan t eind van de tunnel....
