Voor Carlos Sainz is bij de Grand Prix van Japan een hoofdstuk afgesloten. Het was zijn laatste race voor Scuderia Toro Rosso, vanaf de Grand Prix van de Verenigde Staten rijdt de Spanjaard voor Renault. Mobil 1 The Grid zocht Sainz op en vroeg hem naar zijn tijd bij het opleidingsteam van Red Bull en naar het voorbeeld dat zijn landgenoot Fernando Alonso voor hem is.
