Sebastian Vettel beleeft 'rommelige' eerste dag in Austin

Ondanks dat Sebastian Vettel de vrije trainingen afsloot als tweede en derde, was de viervoudig wereldkampioen niet tevreden over zijn vrijdag in Austin. Vettel reed in totaal slechts 31 ronden op het Circuit of the Americas en stond het overgrote deel van de tweede vrije training in de pits. Een matige start van het weekend dus en dat terwijl Ferrari na drie dramatisch verlopen races, de goede lijn die begin dit seizoen werd ingezet, weer op wil pakken.

"Het was een hele rommelige middag," zei Vettel met een glimlach. "Het was geen fijne sessie, maar onze auto is snel en dus maak ik me nog geen zorgen. Ik heb maar één representatieve ronde kunnen rijden op de ultrasofts en daarna maakte ik, denk ik, een fout door teveel risico te lopen zo vroeg in het weekend en verloor de controle over de achterkant van de auto in bocht 19. Dat setje banden konden we daarna niet meer gebruiken."

"Even later voelde ik dat er iets mis was met de auto en zijn we een aantal keer kortstondig op het circuit geweest om alles te checken, maar daar bleek niet meteen uit wat er mis was. Vannacht wordt de auto verder onderzocht om te kijken of we het probleem kunnen vinden."
