Maurizio Arrivabene: "Kleine aanpassing soms beter dan revolutie"

Maurizio Arrivabene zegt dat Ferrari lessen heeft geleerd van het wederom mislopen van de titel bij de constructeurs. Maar er is geen revolutie nodig, met een paar aanpassingen zou de Italiaanse renstal al weer een stuk verder zijn zo, is de mening van Arrivabene.

Arrivabene onder druk

Dit seizoen is het de negende keer op rij dat Ferrari de constructeurstitel aan de concurrentie moest laten. De droom van een nieuwe titel werd tijdens de races in Azië hardhandig de grond in geboord als gevolg van motorproblemen. Nu staat Arrivabene onder grote druk al neemt Sebastian Vettel het continu voor hem op en wil hij niet dat hij vervangen wordt.

Arrivabene over het mislopen van de titel tegen Ted Kravitz van Sky Sports F1: "Wij verloren de strijd om een aantal races en uiteindelijk het constructeurskampioenschap door kleine details gerelateerd aan een leverancier. Het is niet leuk, maar het is een leerproces. Wij moeten nog meer aandacht hebben voor deze elementen zodat wij er zeker van zijn dat de auto volgend jaar net zo sterk is als dat hij dit jaar was."

Kleine aanpassing nodig

Over de mate van verandering die nodig is zegt de Italiaan: "Soms is een kleine aanpassing beter dan een revolutie. Dit jaar betaalden wij een hoge prijs voor details en ik moet zeggen dat wij nog iets meer op het proces gefocust moeten zijn." Voor volgend jaar is het doel duidelijk: "Wij willen strijden tot de laatste bocht van de laatste ronde in de laatste race."

  Ja Kimi is in Formule 1-termen inmiddels helaas een soort van 'mindervalide'. Hij heeft tegenwoordig immers hulp nodig om op het podium te komen... Niet vervelend bedoeld naar mensen in rolstoelen enz., maar ik vind 'm steeds meer een aanfluiting dan een aanwinst voor de sport. Hij heeft op weinig glansrijke wijze een titel behaald, maar verder brengt hij weinig. Geen spectaculaire rijder meer en te beroerd om zijn zonnebril af te zetten. Mensen die Nico Rosberg altijd afkraken, zouden zich eigenlijk eens op Kimi moeten focussen, want Nico was beter dan Kimi ooit geweest is.

  Ik snap ook niet dat ze bji Red Bull het contract van Verstappen verlengd hebben. Zoveel nul resultaten dit seizoen, zo wordt je nooit kampioen.

Volgend jaar net zo sterk en strijden tot de laatste bocht? Weinig ambitieus... Je moet toch willen verbeteren en 5 races voor het eind gewoon die titel(s) willen pakken.
