Hülkenberg richt zich nu op zesde plaats voor Renault

Renault hoeft niet meer de illusie te koesteren dat het dit jaar nog in de top vijf bij de constructeurs zal eindigen. Dat was lange tijd wel de doelstelling, maar door een gebrek aan betrouwbaarheid heeft de Franse renstal de snelheid niet om kunnen zetten in resultaten. Dus gaat het team nu maar voor de zesde plaats bij de constructeurs, waar Renault vijf punten van verwijderd is.

Dat schrijft coureur Nico Hülkenberg in zijn column voor Sport1. "We moeten onze betrouwbaarheid verbeteren. Ik weet dat het team koortsachtig werkt om alle mankementen op te lossen. We hebben nog twee races te gaan dit seizoen en daarin willen we in de punten eindigen. Door alle uitvalbeurten kunnen we de vijfde plaats bij de constructeurs wel vergeten. Nu moeten we ons erop richten om Toro Rosso te passeren en Haas F1 achter ons te houden zodat we de zesde plek in de wacht slepen."

De Duitser had ook nog lovende woorden over voor de kersverse kampioen Lewis Hamilton. "De beslissing in de strijd om de titel is gevallen. Hamilton is voor de vierde keer kampioen en dat is volkomen verdiend. Lewis en Mercedes waren dit seizoen gewoon beter en vooral constanter dan Sebastian Vettel en Ferrari. Als het erop aankomt, dan kun je op Hamilton rekenen om te presteren. Lewis is een killer, hij staat er altijd wanneer het moet."

Het enige probleem is die verdomde onbetrouwbaarheid van Renault. Valt mij toch zwaar tegen weer dit fabrieksteam. Betere kwaliteitscontrole is hard nodig. Op snelheid hadden ze inderdaad makkelijk 5e geworden.

  @Darlos: Misschien steekt er meer achter. Dat Renault de laatste races als een test ziet hoever ze kunnen gaan met de motor. Conclusie: niet zo ver :D

  Ze hebben natuurlijk wel net de pech dat alles bij Toro Rosso dit seizoen zeer betrouwbaar en soepel oogt. Die vijf puntjes inlopen in twee GP’s lijkt dan ook een brug te ver. ;)
