Auer en Russell in beeld voor reserverol bij Force India

Lucas Auer is een belangrijke gegadigde om volgend jaar de positie van reservecoureur bij Force India te gaan bekleden. Dat meldt Auto Bild. De 23-jarige Auer testte begin augustus in Hongarije voor Force India en dat is de Indiase renstal kennelijk goed bevallen.

Auer is in het dagelijks leven een DTM-rijder, maar de Oostenrijker is dit jaar geregeld in verband gebracht met de Formule 1. Hij is de zoon van de zus van oud-coureur Gerhard Berger en wordt net als Force India gesponsord door watertechnologiebedrijf BWT.

Hij moet de functie van officiële reserve van Force India in 2018 wel delen met George Russell, aldus Auto Bild. Russell rijdt in Brazilië en Abu Dhabi in de eerste vrije training voor de Indiase renstal. De GP3-kampioen staat te boek als groot talent en maakt onderdeel uit van het opleidingsprogramma van Mercedes, de motorenpartner van Force India.
