Hülkenberg: "Sainz heeft gelijk positieve impact gehad"

De tussentijdse komst van Carlos Sainz als vervanger van Jolyon Palmer is alleen maar goed geweest voor het team van Renault. Dat oordeel velt coureur Nico Hülkenberg tegenover Formula1.com. Sainz scoorde in zijn eerste weekend in dienst van Renault direct punten in Austin en ook in Mexico kwalificeerde de Spanjaard zich in de top tien, iets wat Palmer zelden tot nooit lukte.

Hülkenberg steekt dan ook de loftrompet voor zijn nieuwe teamgenoot. "Carlos is een jonge, eerzuchtige en snelle coureur. Hij heeft gelijk een positieve impact op het team gehad. We pushen elkaar tot het uiterste en daar plukt Renault de vruchten van, nu en voor de toekomst. Het is cool om met hem samen te werken en tot op heden onderhouden we een goede onderlinge relatie."

Renault bracht eerder deze week naar buiten een volledig nieuwe auto te ontwerpen voor 2018. Technisch directeur Nick Chester: "Ondanks de stabiliteit in de reglementen bouwen we een compleet nieuwe bolide. We hebben veel geleerd van het aerodynamische pakket en de balans van de huidige wagen, dus we rekenen op een grote stap vooruit. In Brazilië rijden we in de trainingen met onderdelen met het oog op 2018."

Hülkenberg komt echter met een ander verhaal. "Ik geloof niet dat we van plan zijn een compleet nieuwe auto te maken. Aangezien de regels niet ingrijpend veranderen gaat het meer om een evolutie van de huidige wagen. Geen nieuw concept, maar voortborduren op wat we hebben, maar dan zonder de problemen waar we dit jaar op gestuit zijn. Het doel is om het gat naar de topteams significant te reduceren."

Veel slechter als Palmer kon het ook gewoon niet, tuurlijk heeft hij de nodige pech gehad. Maar ook erg veel domme momenten.

Tja ,wat moet je anders zeggen over een nieuwe teamgenoot na één uitgereden race... Snap de journalistiek ook niet met dit soort zinloze vragen.... Wel raar verhaal dat de technische Directeur beweerd dat er een compleet nieuwe chassis/auto komt maar dit tegengesproken wordt door een coureur ... Praten ze binnen een team toch over , of uhh.?.
