Pierre Gasly kan moeilijk wennen aan systeem van gridstraffen

Pierre Gasly gaat waarschijnlijk ergens achteraan de grid starten in Brazilië. Door het vervangen van de MGU-H kreeg hij al een straf van tien plaatsen, maar in de eerste vrije training waren er weer problemen met de motor van de Toro Rosso-coureur. 

Nog voor VT1 geeft Gasly aan dat hij het lastig vindt om hiermee om te gaan. "In de lagere series heb ik hier nooit mee te maken gehad", zo spreekt Gasly over het systeem van gridstraffen in de Formule 1. "Je kwalificeert je op een bepaalde positie en je bent er ook zeker van dat je op die positie start. Maar in Mexico wist ik bijvoorbeeld op voorhand al dat als ik derde zou worden in de kwalificatie, ik toch achteraan zou moeten starten", zo vervolgt hij. 

Maar hij heeft het te accepteren en dat doet hij dan ook: "Het is iets dat wij niet kunnen veranderen en dus moeten we het accepteren. Het maakt uiteindelijk niets uit voor onze doelstellingen, het wordt alleen lastiger om deze te halen."

Geeft niks hoor Pierre... Wij fans proberen er ook al een aantal jaren aan te wennen. Mij in iedergeval nogsteeds niet gelukt... Ook een aantal circuits hebben er wel eens moeite mee.

      Toch zou het wel een oplossing kunnen zijn. Stel nou dat je 3 kanshebbers hebt in het seizoen op de titel. Dan zou het uitvallen of grid penalties krijgen echt een probleem worden. Als de top 3 op 50 punten van elkaar zit wil niemand dat je achteraan moet starten.

      Dus uiteindelijk zou je dan moeten kunnen verwachten dat teams de motor liever nét iets betrouwbaarder hebben dan pérse de snelste. Wellicht komt de coureur dan ook wat meer boven drijven. RB is niet de snelste maar de verschillen zijn zo klein dat de coureur het kan compenseren met skill.

      Het probleem is eigenlijk meer dat Merc met het huidig aantal motoren al te snel en betrouwnbaar is. 3 motoren per jaar, en Merc stelt zijn motoren nog steeds sneller af dan RB doet. Dus RB moet pushen en ploft, en zal dus gridstraffen moeten incasseren.

      Merc zou eigenlijk maar 2 motoren per seizoen als regel moeten hebben. Dan zouden ze wat gridstraffen incasseren en dus de motor iets betrouwbaarder maken ipv super snel.

      Dit is heel complex, en gridstraffen lijken ruk... maar ergens dienen ze het doel wel als 3/4 team gelijkwaardig zouden zijn. En de motorregelementen bepalen daar weer iets...

    ik ben bang dat wanneer dit systeem verdwijnt, ik ontwenningsverschijnselen ga krijgen.

    Ga anders eens met Vandoorne praten om te leren hoe je daarmee moet omgaan. In zijn rookie-jaar mocht hij rekenen op een totale grid penalty van 218 plaatsen.

    Hij kan er maar beter vast gewend aan raken. Volgens jaar maar 3 motoren per seizoen. Ik vrees voor hem dat hij die binnen een race of 6 al opgebruikt heeft. Honda is nog niet echt betrouwbaar.

    Geen gridpenalty's en gewoon strafpunten in het constructeurskampioenschap? Dat kan de meeste fans toch geen bal schelen maar teams kunnen er wel veel prijzengeld door mislopen.
